Small jobs welcome

"Would definitely recommend and would hire again. They were quick and efficient and communicated with me about when they would be at my house. They were also reasonable and very affordable for the items that they moved out of my place. 10 out of 10 would recommend."

Our focus at Ash & Oak Tree Care is to start your trees off for long-term success. We provide consultations for landscape design and development planning, the creation of tree and landscape maintenance plans, and offer structural pruning services for young and adolescent trees. By intentionally selecting/placing a tree, prescribing a foundational soil volume, properly setting and pruning the roots while planting, and pruning for site-specific branching structure in the first 15 years will set your tree up as an infrastructure asset.

"I’ve never met anyone that genuinely asked me every time I saw Josh if I was happy with the process and progress. His customer service was better than any other experience I’ve had with home improvement. His expertise on how to complete the project for a difficult tree removal was outstanding. I’ve never been more impressed with a company or the individualized customer service I received. Thank you!!"

"They did a great job cutting the tree and made it look really nice. I'm not sure if he was just really busy or what but he struggled with getting to the job when he said he would... time management. For someone who is prompt, it was frustrating. But everything eventually got done and it looks great!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Unless there’s some sort of rule in your community’s homeowners’ association that requires you to remove a stump, there’s no law that says you have to take it out. If you’re not wedded to the idea of removing it, there are plenty of ways to get creative with this tree remnant. Using the stump as the medium for a wood carving or turning it into a planter are just two examples of ways to repurpose a tree stump.

For safety reasons, leaning trees are best removed by a professional, as they may often tear away from the hinge, causing you to lose control over where the tree falls. If you choose to cut down a tree leaning slightly, avoid cutting off root protrusions before you start. Make your hinge a little longer than usual by cutting it deeper (up to 30% of the diameter) and applying a wedge into the felling cut on the side the tree is leaning. Stand away from the direction the tree leans while making your felling cut.

Large, established tree branches won’t grow roots, but if you find a young tree branch that’s less than about a year old, you’ve got a shot. Put it in water or soil as soon as possible for best results. You’ll know the branch is viable if it’s about the thickness of a pencil and has some leaves or needles.

The safest way to cut down a tree is to make sure you’re completely prepared and have done all the necessary safety checks, including double-checking your equipment is in good working order, you have plenty of clearance to fell the tree, you’re wearing all the safety gear, and you have a partner to help you (who should also be wearing safety gear).

According to scientists at Penn State University, spotted lanternflies do not typically kill the trees and plants they feed on, but they can cause branches and segments to die off. However, they have been found to kill cultivated grapes, which can have devastating consequences for vineyard owners and regions that heavily rely on vineyards to create jobs and generate revenue. They have also killed the Ailanthu altissima, known as the tree of heaven, though this is classified as a noxious and invasive weed tree.
