"Ryan was very profesional. As soon as I started telling him about the mold inside the house and the health symptoms I've been having, he handed me a mask to wear. I had my results for the mold air test in my inbox 3 days after, and they even sent me a referral to a mold doctor locally. Thank you!"

"Alan R. Payson, UT I had major restoration work done as a result of a sewer line backup... as well as a complete remodel of our home by Prime Restoration that begun shortly thereafter. That said, I cannot say enough fine things about our Prime Restoration experience: - Prompt response to our initial call for assistance to address the line backup (on a Sunday, nonetheless) - Clear explanation of the needed actions required as they worked tirelessly for several hours late into the night to contain water damage along with initiating the dry-out process to avoid having the situation worsen. - Their honesty and integrity in completing our project to our full satisfaction was impressive to say the least - no overcharges and much help along the way to shape and direct the desired outcome targets. Lastly, I could go on and on with this glowing review, yet I do not what this review to be too wordy. Thanks again to the prime restoration team for your skills, professionalism and caring!"

"I contacted the provider and didn't hear anything back for almost 2 weeks. The provider called and said he would be by the next day and then didn't show up. The following day he came by and gave the bid. Once I got the bid, they didn't show up on the day they said they would do the work and came the following Monday. The actual installers did a great job with the work."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Black mold often smells musty, stale, or earthy, and some people liken its scent to that of sweaty clothing. While not everyone can identify the smell of mold, you are likely to smell it before you see it, as it usually is hidden in dark, damp areas; instead, the scent may pervade your entire home. If you smell mold, start by opening windows and looking for the source of the smell. If you find mold or are concerned about side effects, call a mold specialist right away, as it can be almost impossible to get rid of yourself.

Toxic drywall has a sulfur smell, similar to rotten eggs or poop. It’s often a sign that the drywall mud is expired, there’s mold or mildew growth, or there’s a leak in your home. Drywall can also absorb moisture during storage, transportation, or installation, resulting in a distinct musty odor.

Removing mold yourself can be dangerous. Always wear protective gear to cover your skin, face, and eyes, and wear a respiratory mask to protect your lungs. It is most recommended to only remove small areas of mold on your own and leave large mold growth to professionals. Mold growth can also be persistent. Without addressing the root cause, DIY surface cleaning can be ineffective and temporary.

Although fiberglass dust is generally not considered toxic, inhaling excessive amounts of it can lead to health risks. Irritation to the respiratory system, eyes, and skin are common effects of fiberglass particle inhalation. While short-term exposure to the dust may only cause temporary discomfort, long-term or chronic exposure can lead to more severe respiratory problems.

Proper safety measures, such as wearing appropriate protective equipment, including masks and goggles, should be observed when handling or working with fiberglass materials to minimize health risks. It is important to note that, unlike asbestos, fiberglass is not associated with life-threatening illnesses.

Mold can grow anywhere in a home where moisture accumulates and doesn't dry out, particularly in areas with poor ventilation. Common materials affected include insulation and drywall. The most frequent locations for mold growth are attics, basements, crawl spaces, wall cavities, bathroom and kitchen walls, exposed foundations, windows and window sills, air conditioning and heating vents, and around fireplaces and chimneys.
