"I would recommend Homestar as an installer. Milgard, the window manufacturer, not so much. Quality of the Tuscany vinyl windows was disappointing ( 1 inch hole in one screen, 2 screens that were too small, manufacturing labels left on all the windows that peeled off to expose unpainted white vinyl, wrong counterweights on two windows that would not stay open). Milgard customer service was even worse. Multiple calls and emails were unanswered or ignored. The only way to get help from Milgard was through the intervention from Dave, owner at Homestar. It took almost 3 months for the issues to be resolved. I was told that Milgard is normally  outstanding, but that we were the victims of high demand, a factory switchover, and a shortage of workers. Probably true because it would be hard for Milgard to stay in business if they treated many customers like this.

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put paneling over textured walls. Of course, this will come down to personal preference and the type of paneling you want to install. From board-and-batten to shiplap and wainscoting, there are plenty of options to choose from.

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.

New plaster must be fully dry and cured before painting. The drying time for plaster ranges from 1 to 4 hours, but the curing process can take more than five days, depending on various factors, including humidity levels, temperature, the amount of plaster used, and airflow in the area. You should always apply primer before painting plaster.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

You may need to replace drywall because of smoke damage. If the drywall is covered in soot, you may be able to clean it, but it will require a lot of time and effort. You could spend hours cleaning the drywall only to find there is more damage and it needs to be replaced anyway. It’s usually easier and safer to remove the smoke-damaged drywall and replace it.
