" We had gotten quotes from a lot of companies: Home Depot, Sears, American Exteriors, and Thermal-Pro. Dave Orgill from Homestar beat them ALL, in some cases by as much as $3,000. These are all with products that are comparable in quality and with similar warranty benefits.
American Exteriors and Thermal-Pro were high-pressure salespeople with super-high prices, who really turned us off. We liked the Sears salesman, but he was unable to get us a French door without doing major alterations to the house. After he had left, we got a call from Sears wanting to give us a further discount, but only if we let a different salesman come and make another pitch, so we wrote Sears off. We liked the Home Depot guy and his price was good, but when we called him back he had been laid off. So on a whim we called Homestar from an ad in the newspaper.
We talked directly with the owner, Dave, who gave us a ballpark quote on the phone and then a written estimate when he came to the house. He didn't take a lot of our time with the measuring and estimate. The price was unbeatable, and there was no pressure. Of course, we had already decided to work with him. He contracts out to D&J windows for the installation. He had them call us to set up a time for the installation. They came two weeks later, and took less than 8 hours to remove our old windows and door and put in the new ones. The workers were polite and punctual, and they were patient with my young son who watched them with great interest as they worked. They were able to install the new windows over the old frames, thus reducing the cost and eliminating worries over damaging the stucco. They cleaned up after themselves, and left us quite pleased with our new windows. My only complaint was that they didn't put a support beam under the step-plate of the new door, because they didn't have one with them that would fit. We were able to fix that fairly easily ourselves, but I would have preferred for them to do it. Overall we were pleased and we will definitely call Dave again when we are ready to replace more of our old windows."

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

On average, drywall installation costs $2,000, depending on the size, complexity, accessibility, and location of the job. The typical cost range is from about $400 to $6,000, which includes materials and labor. Additional cost factors include the thickness of the drywall, the shape and height of the room, and the level of finish. The level of finish ranges from only hanging the drywall to taping and mudding the seams between panels to painting the walls.
The best type of insulation for your home depends on what you need, so the answer will depend on your specific situation. If you’re building a house, structural panels are easy to install during the building process in addition to being the most energy efficient type. If you live in a warm climate, reflective insulation may benefit you more as it costs less than other insulation types. And for standard attics, loose-fill, spray foam, or blown-in insulation work well.
If you plan to heat or cool your garage, you’ll need to insulate the garage ceiling. Insulating your garage ceiling will make your garage much more energy efficient and save on heating and cooling costs. Not only does insulation make your garage more energy efficient, it helps reduce noise and can extend the life of your garage roof. You can use fiberglass, cellulose, mineral wool, or spray foam insulation for this project.
The cost to skim coat drywall is $1.15 to $1.35 per square foot. Most of the cost is labor, for the necessary skills to apply the skim coat with precision using high-quality tools. This is a job better left to the professionals for the best outcomes.
On average, insulating an attic costs about $2,500, ranging from $1,500 to $3,500, depending on the insulation type, amount, and your attic’s accessibility. Additional cost factors include sealing air leaks, removal or replacement of insulation, and inspections. Types of insulation include:
Blown-in: $1–$4 per square foot
Spray foam: $2–$5 per square foot
Batt: $2–$4 per square foot
Structural insulated panels: $4–$7 per square foot
Loose-fill: $2–$5 per square foot
Reflective: $0.50–$1.50 per square foot
