"Hired Bryce to do a shower tile installation. Very very pleased with his work, gets the job done in a timely manner. Has lots of experience. If your looking for a professional, who takes pride in the work they do, look no further. Ive used other installers who are cheaper, and their work shows it. Even if he is booked out, definitely worth the wait or even a few more dollars. If there was 10 stars I would give 10"

"Totally Disappointed with the Tile Work! We hired Beehive Floors & More, Angel Sucup and crew. When we met, I was impressed by our conversation. His tile layer Henry doesn’t speak much English, so there was a bit of translation between the three of us. I felt confident that he knew what we were looking to do in the bathroom and in the laundry room. During the conversation regarding the tile work for the laundry room, I mentioned that we would purchase plywood, backer board and the Schluter, which is the trim for the counter. We already had the tile for both the bathroom and laundry room. We received a quote from Angel: Bathroom and Kitchen Countertop (It should be laundry room) Labor for installation of tile around the tub, tile on bathroom wall, tile on floor, tile on countertop. This includes backboard installation. Does not include any materials. He never gave details on what materials were needed. The breakdown was $ 3240.00. The tile work was very simple, nothing out of the ordinary. I mentioned that the cost of labor was a little overstated, we were doing all the demolition and getting the bathroom ready for tiling. So, he gave us a discount of $ 440.00. It was a simple pattern; the same pattern that we did in our basement bathroom, on the shower, and the walls. We met one more time prior to the installation of the tile, he was trying to persuade us to change the direction of the tile, it would be easier for Henry. We wanted the same pattern as downstairs. We made one simple change on the installation; we wanted the tile to continue up to the ceiling instead of a straight line across. It was 4 ½ sq ft. We figured it would be easy for Henry, since he is the best tile installer for Beehive Floors & More. Well, there was some communication between Henry and Angel, they would have to charge us for the 4 ½ sq ft of tile. Then, he advised me that he under-bid the job. I advised him that I was not going to pay for his mistake. This is when the quality of work went south. Every day was a challenge since Henry and I couldn’t communicate. Angel rarely stopped by during the job to ensure it was being done correctly. I had to insist that he come out and check the work and explain to Henry what was needed. When I started challenging Angel about the issues, he said I was trying to get out of paying him for the work. We were disappointed with the workmanship of the job. Others have seen the finished product and say it doesn’t look like a professional job. I’ve seen Henry’s work on other projects. Henry has done great work on other jobs, so not sure what happened. There was a lot of communication between Henry and Angel, since I don’t understand Spanish not sure what was said. All I know is that Henry was not happy with the job he did for us. Angel asked me what I thought about the work. I was honest, it looks like crap. He said that he will redo it, but we would have to pay for it. That is not going to happen. Why would I let him do it again? He also said he wasn’t going to do the countertops due to all the issues with the bathroom. We agreed on a reduced price of $2000 since the countertops weren’t done. He’s been paid the agreed amount. This leaves us with finding someone else to do the countertops."

"RSI is a great replumb company. The actual replumbing was outstanding and we opted for the upgraded pro-plex fittings to increase our warranty from 10 to 25 years (not an up sell by Jamey - our choice). They also put in-place a dedicated recirculation line for our tankless water heater. The RSI team (Kenny and Milo) was expert at locating and replacing the old polybutylene piping with minimal impact to sheetrock, tiles, and fittings. They finished the work early but were delayed in finalizing the project due to a delay from the Regional Building Inspectors, not RSI's fault. Our only suggestions are 1) better daily clean-up, 2) better attention to detail repainting sheetrock (we had to repeatedly point out areas for a 'redo' and adjacent areas for touch-up) - this seemed harder to do that we expected (this is why we gave them a B rather than an A for quality). Jamey was very responsive to us and answered our questions/concerns thoroughly and promptly. We will recommend RSI our neighbors and friends.

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Many homeowners have successfully retiled a bathroom themselves. It can be a challenging but rewarding process, but it’s best for someone who already has at least intermediate DIY skills.

Penny tile should be sealed to protect the grout from moisture and keep stains from damaging the look of the tile. If penny tile is in a humid or high-traffic area, like a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway, it needs sealant. Any type of tile and grout is best maintained with a sealant reapplied by a pro every one to two years.

You should always use caulk instead of grout where the tile meets the wall. This will help your tile installation look great and last a long time. When you accidentally use grout for the corner seams, you end up making the tiles too rigid. So as the wall shifts over time, your tiles have no wiggle room. This can lead to tile damage, which will eventually require you to do at least a partial reinstallation.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.

You can use sanded or unsanded grout for a shower pan, but sanded grout isn’t the best option for shower walls. For those areas, you’ll want to use unsanded grout, which works well on vertical surfaces and is less likely to slump than sanded grout. Alternatively, you can use epoxy grout for shower walls.
