"RSI is a great replumb company. The actual replumbing was outstanding and we opted for the upgraded pro-plex fittings to increase our warranty from 10 to 25 years (not an up sell by Jamey - our choice). They also put in-place a dedicated recirculation line for our tankless water heater. The RSI team (Kenny and Milo) was expert at locating and replacing the old polybutylene piping with minimal impact to sheetrock, tiles, and fittings. They finished the work early but were delayed in finalizing the project due to a delay from the Regional Building Inspectors, not RSI's fault. Our only suggestions are 1) better daily clean-up, 2) better attention to detail repainting sheetrock (we had to repeatedly point out areas for a 'redo' and adjacent areas for touch-up) - this seemed harder to do that we expected (this is why we gave them a B rather than an A for quality). Jamey was very responsive to us and answered our questions/concerns thoroughly and promptly. We will recommend RSI our neighbors and friends.

Toilets questions, answered by experts

If you know the job is going to be extensive (and you don’t like surprises), hiring a Roto-Rooter specialist may make sense for you. You’ll know how much you’re going to pay right away.

That said, hiring the best plumber isn’t solely about price. If you've worked with a plumber you trust before or have a list of plumbing services you need tackled at your home, working with a plumber might be a better choice for you.

Ensuring your toilet will fit starts with measuring the rough-in, but there are a few other factors to consider. The toilet tank's height and the toilet's depth should fit comfortably within the bathroom’s current setup. When considering depth, look at the walking space around the toilet to ensure it fits in the bathroom.

Technically, you can put an elongated toilet seat on a round toilet, but it’s not a good idea. Elongated toilet seats are a few inches longer than round toilets, so they will hang over the front edge of your toilet, which isn’t appealing. Additionally, an unsupported toilet seat or portion of a toilet seat is more likely to crack and shift, which could result in injury to whoever uses the toilet. Always match your toilet seat style to your toilet, or replace the toilet entirely if you’re looking to switch styles.

You should replace your toilet at least every 25 years. While toilets are pretty sturdy appliances, they don’t last forever. Even if you aren’t ready to invest in the cost of a bathroom remodel yet, just replacing your toilet will help freshen up your space and keep your bathroom functioning.

Usually it’s fine to leave a toilet clogged overnight, as long as it’s not close to overflowing. In some cases, the extra time may give the clog time to work itself out. For example, if it’s caused by an excess of toilet paper, letting it sit could result in the clog dissolving and you may be able to simply flush it away by the time you wake up.

Only let it sit though if you have more than one toilet in the home.
