"I had 5 star kitchen and bath come remodel my bathroom. They did such a great job. the installers were great at making sure I was happy and that everything was perfect for me. I also had a sliding glass door put in. My old one had fallen apart before my scheduled install date. I called them and they found a way to get it put in early. I'm very happy with everything they did and I would use them again."

"The HomeStar employee who came to install the kitchen/basement windows damaged the soffit (she didn't know how to lift the window to avoid doing damage to the soffit) that had just been installed earlier in the day. We were lucky that the soffit and gutter company was able to take out the damaged soffit and replace it without to much noticeable damage. The screen for the kitchen window was also the wrong size. HomeStar ordered another screen and the second screen came and was also the same wrong size. They then ordered a third screen and just this week (almost three months later) I called them to ask about the screen and they informed me it had come in and was the right size but the frame was bent. So, they are now ordering a 4th screen. It is hard to believe that it will take more than 4 month after getting the window installed to get a screen for the window. Also, HomeStar hasn't maintained communication with us regarding the screen . I've had to call them every few weeks to find out the status. Not very concerned about customers once they have paid."

"This is going to be a long review so the TLDR is they are a great company to work with and Bryson (Owner) was very pleasant. I had gotten several bids from other companies and everyone I dealt with was the stereotypical â pushy salesmanâ . Then I had Creekside come and take a look. Bryson gave me his bid and I told him I would let him know what I decided. A few days later, one of the other companies started to pressure me into making a decision by saying that their current promotion was about to expire and also said that the windows they used are the best, while saying the ones that Creekside used are the worst. I called Bryson and asked him why this other company was saying their windows were bad and he recommended that I look at the Utah business permit website to see how long each company had been doing business in the state of Utah. What I found was that the other company was very new in the state of Utah and that was a red flag for me. I really appreciated that Bryson provided me with the tools to come up with my own decision. I decided to go with Creekside and payed a down payment for the cost of ordering the windows and then would pay the labor costs after they were finished. This was a requirement from all the other companies that I had bids from, but I was still nervous because this was my first home improvement project. Creekside followed through and installed my windows. I am very happy with the outcome. Thanks again Bryson!"

"I called the folks at A BROKEN WINDSHIELD and we scheduled a time for them to come and replace our cracked windshield. I had located this provided from the Angie's List catalog we receive each month. I was especially interested because they offered to waive the $100.00 deductible, which I really appreciated. They came at the appointed time, a bit late, but they assured me that the job would be done quickly and efficiently, allowing me to get to a doctor's appointment on time. I must admit, I had my doubts if this was possible, but boy, was I ever wrong. I was totally amazed that the entire process, removing the old glass and replacing it with a new windshield was done in less than 45 minutes. They did a beautiful job, left no mess at all, were polite, efficient, and lots of fun to talk to. I highly recommend these folks. I have used many Angie's List providers successfully, and this was no exception. Got a broken windshield? Call "A BROKEN WINDSHIELD" asap! You won't be sorry."

"Brian came across as very professional and was able to say whether he could or could not do a specific job.  He removed our old hot water heater and dishwasher and installed the new ones very quickly and professionally, leaving behind zero mess.  (a huge plus for anyone who has dealt with contractors!)  During the installation of the water heater, a cheap, existing tap valve supplying the water to our upstairs fridge malfunctioned and Brian returned the next day with a new tap valve in hand.  It has now been several weeks, and there are no leaks nor problems with either the dishwasher nor the hot water heater!  Two huge home improvements done in one afternoon.  Overall, we were very satisfied with the work and are always happy to support the small business owner!

Glass and Mirrors questions, answered by experts

Whether it's better to repair or replace a broken mirror depends on its size, value, and the extent of the damage. For small, inexpensive mirrors, replacement is often the better choice, as the average repair cost of around $200 can be close to the price of a new one. However, for large mirrors—like those over a bathroom vanity or large floor mirrors—repair is usually more cost-effective. A new large mirror can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, while repairs typically range from $50 to $200. You should also consider the mirror's age and sentimental value. Antique mirrors and family heirlooms are often priceless and irreplaceable, making repair the most sensible or only option.

Smart glass doesn’t use a lot of electricity, and you can expect a standard window to add between $1 and $2 per year to your electric bills. Smart glass is proof that energy-efficient windows work. Although your smart windows may consume a little energy to operate, they can save enough energy to offset the costs. If you’re concerned about the minimal bump to your electricity consumption, you can opt for smart tint, which doesn’t require electricity to work.

Getting a streak-free shine after cleaning your windows requires both the right cleaning solutions—which can either include warm water and dish soap or warm water and rubbing alcohol—and the right tools—namely, a squeegee and a microfiber cloth. To make your streak-free glass cleaner, combine one gallon of warm water with a few drops of dish soap, and mix. Apply with a sprayer or sponge, and then dry with a squeegee, microfiber cloth, or old black-and-white newspaper pages.

You should avoid multi-surface cleaners, bleach, and any cloth or scrubbing material that has a rough surface when cleaning mirrors. Multi-surface cleaners and bleach will get smudges and debris off of the glass, but they more often leave behind cleaner residue because they don’t evaporate like a glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Additionally, any abrasive material or even the scrubbing side of a sponge can scratch your glass or coatings on the glass, gradually making the mirror look hazy.

A window may fail because of age, defective mechanisms, or moisture. Depending on the issue, the window may be fixed with simple repairs. Otherwise, you’ll have to invest in replacing it. You can avoid damaged windows but keeping up with window maintenance.
