"Bill is exactly what you want in a general contractor. Never did I feel I was being lied to or forgotten about. I hired Bill to build my forever home and he would constantly give me updates on how things were going and rough timelines. Giving me options on different things we can add to the house that I didn't know existed. Worked with me without ever being rude on any design changes that we thought of during construction. Always answered the phone despite something not going exactly to plan and helped alleviate any of the stress that is building a house. I highly recommend Bill, all of the scary things you hear about general contractors swindling and lying isn't Bill Spratt. Thanks Bill!"

"Very professional and meticulous…I was impressed by the efficiency and the precise attention and care that was brought to my home repairs! I have dealt with many contractors over the years…but this company felt like they really cared about my family and my home!"

"Sven did a great job on a staircase remodel project as well as polishing concrete floors in my basement. I also called him for handyman service work on my sprinklers. He he was able to come up with creative solutions custom for my home. His prices were fair and he was easy to work with. I will certainly certainly call him again."

"We had a serious issue with rain runoff settling our soil at our foundation. Joe and his crew were incredible!!! He replied immediately and came out the same day to bid. His assessment was spot on, very affordable for all they had to do, and they remedied our issue quickly and even impressed our builder Rep, who said how to fix it. Joe went above and beyond to make it so we’ll never have issues again!!! I can’t recommend Joe enough and honestly, I very rarely do online reviews, but with Joe, I just had to. Yes, he is that good,,,,TRUST ME. ?"

"All things considered it went pretty well. We had just come off of multiple experiences (different companies) where the contractors did not fulfill their contracts and cost us a bunch of money with half finished jobs. Clic Homes was a breath of fresh air. They were easy to work with and felt that they gave us good attention. They offered to come to an arrangement (considering our previous experiences with other companies) where we felt comfortable not having too much money out of pocket before work was done. This was truly amazing. They were fairly prompt with their work. The work that was done was quality. I did not find that I needed to go back and ask for rework due to quality. Like all construction projects there was an issue or two that did not sit quite right with us, they were willing to work with us and fix the problem. Overall I would give them 4.5 stars."

"Jed is thorough and really explains what needs to be done and why. He is an arborist so he analyzes what the tree growth should look like down the road. He asks for my feedback as to what I’d like to see my trees look like. My property is spotless when he finished. Ned is reasonably priced for the work he completes. I feel he can always be trusted with his bids."

"Jason did a great job for us. We purchased a cabin in the Unitas that needed work to the back half of the cabin..the previous owners added to the cabin but did nothing protect the wood. As a result the buffalo siding was dry, seriously warped & missing ant corner protection. Additionally the facia & soffit on the front half of the cabin needed serious attention. Jason looked at the work needed, provided a quote & time frame. He completed the work on time & on budget. We will us him again up in the future."

"Sione and his crew was always prompt and very friendly. Price was very reasonable and cheaper than two other bids. Always made sure we were happy with every step of the project. I am hiring him again for more work to do in my backyard."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

It can, especially with the rising popularity of treehouses that go beyond the ones designed for kids. Adults can now use them as office spaces, yoga studios, or quiet treetop retreats. That said, a treehouse can appeal to families with children or adults who might want to convert it into a space of their own. Depending on the buyer, they may be willing to pay extra for the unique feature.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.

Depending on your needs, you may find a storebought pole barn is a much less expensive option than a custom-built one. You can find pole barn kits from big box retailers starting at $11,000, but you will be limited when it comes to size and add-on features. As long as you have the necessary skills, you can save on labor costs by doing it yourself; but there are a lot of different skill sets you would need, and mistakes during the building process can lead to excessive repair bills later.

Generally speaking, building a swing set is cheaper than buying a prefabricated one, but this assumes you have all the tools and knowledge to complete the project. The average cost to build a swing set is $514, but you should also factor in the time and effort it will require—if you don’t want to give up your weekend, it’s worth considering buying instead of building.

A steel frame costs 10% to 20% more than a wood frame. Wood is a much easier material to work with, more accessible, and generally more affordable than steel—plus, you need specialized tools to work with steel.
