Bill was great! He was able to build our home within 6 months, which was amazing! He was very organized and very good with communicating with us throughout the entire process. He was able to save us 15k through certain design choices! He is definitely the guy to go to to get the job done. The house looks amazing and have been in it for almost 4 months now and we love it.

Bill is exactly what you want in a general contractor. Never did I feel I was being lied to or forgotten about. I hired Bill to build my forever home and he would constantly give me updates on how things were going and rough timelines. Giving me options on different things we can add to the house that I didn't know existed. Worked with me without ever being rude on any design changes that we thought of during construction. Always answered the phone despite something not going exactly to plan and helped alleviate any of the stress that is building a house. I highly recommend Bill, all of the scary things you hear about general contractors swindling and lying isn't Bill Spratt. Thanks Bill!

I hired Bill (Red Butte Construction) after an unpleasant spec review with another contractor. Bill was a huge relief. With his experience and professionalism we were quickly able to launch a $500,000 project. Managing and living through a remodel is stressful to say the least. Besides the inconvenience, unexpected challenges arise, timelines change, budgets explode and delays are inevitable. Bill took the stress out of the inevitabilities of any contract work. His communication and flexibility for solutions was a godsend. I was managing my project from 1000 miles away. Because of excellent communication and proactive solutions, we completed the project with minimal delays and only marginally over-budget. I recommend Bill without hesitation. Remodeling is a stressful experience. Good communication, experience, and flexibility mitigate the inevitable. Thats what you'll get with Red Butte Construction.

I cannot say enough good things about Red Butte Construction. The owner, Bill, and I got off to a great start as we are both named Bill. Joking aside, it was rapidly evident that he understood what needed to happen and how the best way to accomplish our goals were. Not only was he knowledgeable about the ins and outs of navigating the permitting system, it was evident that he knew construction as well. Bill runs a very tight ship and does not like to fall off schedule. There were many weekends and holidays that I would stop by the house only to find him working on a project in order to maintain schedule. I would have to say that most of the delays were, in fact, caused by my wife and I failing to make design decisions in a timely fashion. Bill was also able to help us find various reputable vendors in order to pick out finishes and other items. As the project progressed, Bill also came up with many little designs within the house to make the space more live-able. The loan that I acquired was a little strange and confusing, however, Bill showed an amazing amount of patience working through the process and with the different inspections. Finally, as a true testament to his character, I can still call Bill months after our project is done and he quickly gets back to me. I would absolutely recommend him and will use him for future projects.

Bill had some great advice, and gave me some contacts to help with my plans. Seems like a down-to-earth, genuine guy.

Bill is simply the most available, responsible and responsive GC I have ever worked with (and I have worked with several). He showed up every day to address any questions or concerns. He communicated immediately if there were issues to address or decisions to be made. He adapted easily to our changes and additions, and he was extremely fair in his pricing for those changes and additions. But, perhaps most important, a good GC means good subs, and Bill brought in only the very best. Everyone that came in to do work was extremely professional, produced high quality work and were diligent in helping us keep the house livable during the process. I would highly recommend Bill and Red Butte, and when we do our next project my first call will be to Bill.

Bill did a terrific job over all.  I would hire him again and would highly recommend him to others.  During the bidding process Bill was very transparent and his pricing came in right in the middle.  We decided to go with Bill as he took lots of time with us and answered all our questions.  We could just tell he is honest and would be easy to work with.
From the very beginning and throughout the job Bill was very punctual and communicated well.  He returns phone calls quickly and would meet us at the house to go over decisions as they came up.  Large projects will always have surprises and potentially issues with subcontractors.  We didn't have anything major happen, but there were a few smaller issues that were quickly resolved as Bill has good relationships with his subs and puts the homeowners interests first.  
Even after the job was done, Bill has reached out to make sure we are happy with the work and to see if anything needs attention. We had a few items to fix and he was as responsive and thorough as when we were in the middle of it.
Finally, my entire family was comfortable having Bill around the house.  With a large project you sometimes see your general contractor as much as your family.  He was always very respectful of our space and kind with the kids and my wife (and even accommodated reducing the noisy parts of the work around the kid's nap time).

Bill was excellent to work with.  We received a few bids on the project and ultimately chose Bill due to the lower cost and the detailed bid where we could see that all the elements were included.  In addition, we liked his approach to the fee (charging a % of the actual work for his own fee) and his attention to detail.  He also came across as being very honest.  As we worked through the project over 4 months we appreciated his checking in regularly (usually daily) and finding things that we had missed in the quality of the work (although there were few issues).  He was helpful with ideas on design as well as ways we could potentially save costs.  He was quick to let us know when we were going over the bid and fair with a couple small items that came up that raised the costs.  We would definitely use Bill again and would recommend him to friends and family.

Bill was very competitive on his bid. He was not the low bidder but was within 5% of the low bid. I selected Red Butte and Bill because of his excellent ratings and reviews on Angies list.
Bill helped me improve the plan and layout of the space and worked to provide the best value for my money. He completed the job about 2 weeks ahead of schedule and for the exact amount we had negociated.
The quality of construction and attention to detail was excellent. This was not an easy job as there were many challenges with the space and working around utilites equipment and meeting the code requirements.
The job turned out great and I could not be happier with the service of Red Butte Construction and Bill. I highly recommend them for your renovation and addition jobs at your home.

Great.  The owner, Bill, was very prompt and responsive in visiting  the site and submitting a detailed bid.  His approach to the project was very professional, including code requirements.  The building crew was friendly, courteous and did great quality work.
Bill was fair and great about resolving the minor issues we had with the final project.
We love our new deck, and will definitely use Red Butte in the future.

Deck and railings look great.  Provider was knowledgeable about the materials and best method of construction.  The provider took over from another provider after the first provider was unable to complete his bid.  This provider suggested changes in the materials used, which was an improvement as the original materials would have had problems.

Fine.  We were expecting a more graphic representation on how they would remodel.  We don’t know what we are going to do.  He was very nice and helpful.

We initially got three bids for this project.  We decided to hire Bill from Red Butte Construction Company.  Bill was more detailed and complete in reviewing our project.  He looked at everything inside and outside of the house and made several suggestions and comments before submitting his bid to us.  We felt good about this because the other two bidders were not as thorough.  Since this was our first time hiring a general contractor we appreciated receiving his advice.  We really have no major complaints about the project.  Bill did everything possible to accomplish our project in a timely manner.  He was always on time or called when he knew he would be late.  We are very happy with the quality of the work that was done and the room addition looks beautiful!
If we needed to hire a general contractor in the future for another large project, we would certainly hire Bill again.  He did a great job and always kept us informed of the progress.

Bill was good at communication and getting all the subs in and out on time. We had some glitches in what we originally wanted and he provided some good alternatives. Nothing ever goes 100% as planned and such was the case with our job. We are happy overall with the work.

Bill was excellent to work with. I was nervous about using a contractor to get the work done but he made it a wonderful experience. His team worked quickly but did excellent quality work. They were on time and if they were running late Bill would call and let me know. He was able to make our basement the way we needed it including all of our out of the ordinary requests like putting a stainless steel kitchen sink in the new bathroom instead of a typical bathroom sink.  I am already looking forward to using him again in 5 years or so to redo my kitchen.

We have a good experience with them. They are great! They are very professional, communicative, they explained what it is going to cost before they charge you for it, they are very good, and very thorough.

I called around September/October and Bill promptly set up a meeting for an estimate on the carport to garage conversion and the other work mentioned above. He was very courteous and patient with me when I had questions regarding how all of the work was going to get done.  Bill was very thorough when looking at the garage structure and even looked at the attic and roof to make sure he didn't miss anything on the estimate.  I believe it only took a couple of days to get my estimate via email.  I did get two others, but one company never contacted me even when I checked to make sure it wasn't in my junk folder and the other estimate was very high. Overall, I felt the most comfortable with Bill because he was the most thorough and explained everything in detail from beginning to finish. During the process, he made sure to get the proper engineering and city permits required by the city for this undertaking. We both didn't take into consideration the side top and bottom windows of house needed to have fireproof protection until we got to this point.  Because it was missed on the estimate, Bill worked something out that was agreeable for the both of us regarding the labor and materials to cover the side windows.  The top window was filled in with sheetrock and painted.  They did a great job taking care not to get dust all over the place.  When I noticed some spots that could use a touch-up (I have young eyes and have great attention to detail which can be annoying to others at times), I let Bill know and he promptly made sure that it was fixed to my satisfaction.  The bottom window well was left unfinished until my husband and I decide what kind of closet we want.  We will be hiring Bill for that job as well.  When I noticed a draft from this window well, I called Bill to see if we could do something about it until the cabinet got done.  Bill came by that same night and filled the window in with plastic sheeting to take care of the draft.  I was quite impressed by this gesture because it was a Friday and who wants to come back to work on a Friday night?  Subs were hired for the other jobs and overall I was impressed with their quality of work and professionalism.  My only hang-up with a few of them was that they didn't clean up as well as I would have liked for them to have done and I let Bill know about it.
Bill was always prompt in getting back to us if we had any questions and communicated to us what was going to happen at every step of the project.  I was confident that if I wasn't satisfied any way, I knew Bill would fix it.  I work an odd shift which required me to sleep in at times while Bill worked and he did his best in trying to keep the noise level down to the best of his ability.  
Our first big project was a positive one and we will be using Bill in the future for all our home improvement needs and referring him to our friends should they ever need a contractor.

This review will be part one of two. We met with several highly rated Angie's List contractors right after we settled on our home in Bountiful regarding a much larger scale job. Bill blew us away with how thorough and attentive to detail he was. We did not end up deciding to do the large scale job, but instead went with the window and breezeway job. We are across the country, but Bill has kept us up to date and in the loop on every part of the process thus far. He is also extremely responsive when we have questions. Furthermore, when we decided to add the deck into the scope of the project, we did not get the usual huffing and puffing that contractor's tend to do when the homeowner changes the scope of the job after things have begun working their way through the process. Finally, for this review, in helping us to determine whether we want to go ahead with the deck, he offered to take his tall ladder out to our house and take pictures of what our view would be. We felt that that would have been truly going above and beyond. We truly look forward to seeing the final products given the experience we have had thus far.
