"We hired Joe to figure out why our sprinkler timer wasn't turning on the sprinklers, even though everything I saw on the display seemed to indicate it was working fine. Joe showed up and very quickly figured out what the problem was. It was clear from his testing that we needed to replace our sprinkler timer (i.e. it could not be repaired). Since I could do that myself, he did not even charge me for the service call. Joe was very friendly and easy to deal with. He clearly knew what he was doing and I will not hesitate to hire him in the future and would recommend him to anyone."

"I highly recommend Lavo Construction for handyman services. The owner, Oscar, answered my Angi request by phone within 15 minutes of posting and informed me that he could arrive at my home the very next morning to give me a quote for vinyl fence repair. While he was here, I requested other services: replace plank siding and siding frame, and toilet leak repair. Later that afternoon, Oscar sent me a detailed professional service agreement quotation. The quote was very reasonable, particularly for two sections of the siding replacement that required work to be performed on my roof. These projects were completed within 2 days (about 12 hours of work total) and Oscar did a fantastic job. He arrived early/right on time on both days and didn’t even take a lunch break…in 90+-degree weather! When Oscar was ready to repair my toilet, without my asking, he removed his shoes - a true professional. I will definitely hire Lavo Construction again for any handyman services in the future!"

Playground Equipment questions, answered by experts

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

Both indoor and outdoor basketball courts are excellent options, and the best choice depends on factors like your local climate, available space, and budget. As long as the court and hoop dimensions are standard, any player can get a great workout and improve their skills on either type of court.

The primary drawback of an outdoor court is that weather, such as rain and wind, can hinder playing time. An indoor court solves this problem, allowing you to play anytime. However, installing an indoor court can be costly and takes up a significant amount of space that might otherwise serve as a living area.

If your seedlings have reached a few inches in height and the weather outside has stabilized to where you’re no longer seeing overnight temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, it may be time to start hardening them off to get them ready to be planted in the garden.

Generally speaking, building a swing set is cheaper than buying a prefabricated one, but this assumes you have all the tools and knowledge to complete the project. The average cost to build a swing set is $514, but you should also factor in the time and effort it will require—if you don’t want to give up your weekend, it’s worth considering buying instead of building.

In most cases, yes, an outdoor living space adds value to your home. The trick to your best return on investment is to choose high-quality building materials that will look nice and durable without crossing the line into total luxury that becomes cost-ineffective. For example, there’s no need to install marble tiles around your pool, but a durable and aesthetically pleasing deck will go a long way.
