"I hired Buchanan Tree Service to remove a tree that had fallen on my roof. I also requested two other threatening branches unrelated to the original tree be removed. One of them was removed, one was not. I did not notice until after they left. This was not a big at first since itw as an oversight and I presumed they would make it right. However, after 5 weeks of of requests (about 10 altogether) I only received two responses back, both saying they would get to it. But they never did. I have had to hire another service to finish they job they did not."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

The speed of your tree root removal process depends on a few different factors, including the size and type of tree. However, the fastest method of killing tree roots is applying chemical herbicide, which starts working quickly and efficiently. But this removal method has its drawbacks, such as having a negative effect on the surrounding vegetation and landscaping. Other options like rock salt and stump grinding work relatively quickly and cause less damage to your yard.

Unless it’s dead or dangerous, think twice about cutting down a tree in your yard. They’re good for health, well-being, wildlife, and the environment. Plus, local authorities often have regulations prohibiting the removal of trees, especially protected species or individual trees with historical value.

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.

Lilac roots are typically not destructive, but they can be a nuisance. Lilac roots can extend 15 feet in all directions of your garden. Therefore, the roots can reach water and sewer lines in search of moisture and nutrients if you’ve planted them too close. Yet, the lilac roots aren’t likely to cause any damage to water or sewer lines. Instead, the roots will overtake the area.

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.
