"Unfortunately, our A/C quit cooling the evening of 27 Jul, after hours, of course.  I called Denise of Air Specialist, and she immediately sent Mike T. to our home to get us working again.  After recent continued issues with our A/C cooling, our Air Specialist technician, Scott S., came out on 2 Aug to make a thorough diagnosis and found we needed to replace the coil.  The ladies I have talked with in the office by phone, Denise, Lauren, Nicko and Stephanie, of Air Specialist are all fabulous!!  Nicko sent Mr. Mauricio and his assistant to our home to perform the work.  Mr. Mauricio and his assistant were extremely professional, polite, prompt and quickly got everything installed and A/C cooling again.  I was so impressed of how neat and clean they were in their workings.  They came in wearing their booties, laid out their canvas under the attic door and discarded all garbage immediately as they were working.  There was nothing to clean when they left...they took care of everything!  I called into the main office to let Denise, the office manager, know how impressed we were of these installers and appreciated them taking care of us so quickly.  Denise is always very professional while being personable, understanding the importance of our requests and exudes customer service.  Denise is amazing, and we appreciate her assisting us beyond words!  Thank you!"

"Air Heating & Cooling repaired ducts, replaced all grills, installed larger ductwork, bigger air supply vents in large living room & installed a new ceiling return. They drywall sealed unneeded return openings. Team came at 8am & worked diligently to install a complete HVAC system. They cleaned up any mess before they left. Jose and George really listened to my concerns of insufficient air flow in my 1978 home and made improvements. My home feels so comfortable and cool now. I look forward to less expensive electric bills. Thanks to God for their hard work. I highly recommend them for HVAC installation. A+++"

"We had very poor cool air distribution in our older Galveston house. Allgood replaced the HVAC ducts and the cool air distribution is much better now, plus the AC runs less. Installers Ken and Robert did a great job working very hard, and leaving the house in good condition. Great company, would use again"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While many states do not have specific licensing requirements for HVAC companies, your local city or county might. It's always a good idea to check local requirements online and use a tool like Angi’s contractor license lookup to confirm that the company you’re considering is licensed. Regardless of licensing, you should always ensure the company you hire is fully insured to avoid potential lawsuits if a technician is injured on your property. Additionally, it is recommended to check if the company holds third-party certifications, such as North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or R-410A certification, which qualifies them to work with HVAC refrigerants.

While all portable AC units will collect moisture as part of their cooling and dehumidifying process, whether and how often you need to drain them depends on what kind of unit you have and the natural humidity levels where you live. For example, if you live in a very dry area and have a self-evaporating unit, you may not need to drain your portable AC very often at all. Some units may automatically drain collected moisture out the window through their exhaust vent.

Yes. In fact, not only are AC tuneups worth it, but they’re actually necessary to keep your air conditioner in good condition, improve its efficiency, and potentially prevent major damage. Experts recommend getting a tuneup at least once per year. In most cases, you’ll want to schedule it during the spring so that you can address any issues before the hottest months of the year.

You need to know the square footage of your home first. Multiply that number by 20, which will get you the BTUs (British Thermal Units) needed to cool your home efficiently. Homes up to 1,000 square feet usually need a 1.5-ton unit; homes 1,000 to 1,200 square feet usually need a 1.75-ton unit, and homes 1,200 to 1,400 square feet usually need a 1.9-ton unit. Talk to a local pro for more specific advice on your home.

Dry mode positively impacts indoor air quality by reducing excess moisture, which stops the growth of mold and mildew. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, dry mode creates a less hospitable environment for allergens and airborne pathogens, improving overall air quality. However, it's essential to ensure proper ventilation to prevent stale air accumulation.
