"They were trying to sell us things that was not necessary. My husband knows a little about the electronics for the air conditioning and if I would of been here by myself I would of probably bought it. I was not happy about that."

"Our AC went out late Saturday evening and the temp was in the 90’s in our house. The gentleman that came out was amazing. We are not from Texas so he explained the care needed for HVAC systems here in the south we did not have to do in the north. He got us up and running thank goodness. He was so polite and cleaned up after himself afterwards. I highly recommend ARS!"

"Professional and friendly. They came on time, promptly diagnosed our problem with our central AC. They had the part on their truck and were able to quickly fix the AC. We were so pleased with their work, we are going to use their "annual maintenance" service, as well."

"We hired Danco Comfort Systems to install our mini split system by Mitsubishi. We are really glad we went with them. They installed the inside units first then the outside unit then they took the time to equalize the unit before they left."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You may never need an AC recharge if there are no leaks. However, if your AC unit has a leak that cannot be patched appropriately, you’ll need an AC recharge every time the freon level drops low enough that it disrupts your system—this could be once every two to three years. It all depends on the size and frequency of the leak.

Some of the signs of HVAC issues include rising energy bills, rooms not cooling or heating properly, loud noises when in operation, and signs of condensation. To illustrate, if you’re wondering how to stop condensation on air vents, you’ll need to have your HVAC inspected.

Most experts recommend getting three to five HVAC quotes from licensed, insured, reputable local heating and cooling companies. Getting multiple detailed HVAC quotes (but not too many) lets you compare the equipment, services, and prices of several contractors without being overwhelmed by options. It can also let you see if one contractor’s prices are much higher or lower than the others and give you a chance to ask for clarification. That way, you can weed out any contractors who aren’t providing quality services or materials and find the company that best meets your budget, quality requirements, and long-term goals.

No, for two very important reasons. First, it’s illegal to release refrigerant into the air or ground since it can be toxic and cause environmental damage. Technicians typically pump old or extra refrigerant into separate tanks for special disposal. Second, without professional equipment to read refrigerant pressure and levels, plus the AC’s suggested requirements, it’s impossible to know if you’ve removed the right amount of refrigerant. Stay away from a DIY solution here and seek an expert with the right tools.

The length of an AC cycle depends on the settings in your thermostat and the unit you have. Central AC doesn't constantly run at full blast the way that a window unit does. A cooling cycle in most homes is 15 to 20 minutes. Then, the unit stays off for seven to 10 minutes to circulate the cold air in the house before the cycle repeats. It should repeat two or three times per hour. A short cycle lasts less than 10 minutes and then turns off.
