"Josh and his crew did an excellent job removing a big dead tree in my front yard. They chopped the tree down and cleaned up everything down to the last twig. They even left me with wood for the fireplace. I would highly recommend Battle Castle for any landscaping job!!"

"I was given 12 o'clock time for arrival and they were here on time. One employee came up to me and introduced himself as Leroy and told me that they were here to trim my pecan tree. I took him into the back yard and showed him the tree. He asked me if I had a preference as to how much I wanted trimmed and I told him exactly what I wanted. They immediately set about to do what they had come for. They were very efficient and careful in ensuring that none of the branches they cut fell onto the roof or into the neighbor's yard. On one specific branch Leroy explained to me that some rot had developed in the branch and that it could be problematic later on. I had him go ahead and cut the branch off so as to not have to worry about it later. I was very impressed with the job they did and how quickly and efficiently they did it. I would highly recommend them for any type of tree service."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Hiring an arborist or tree surgeon is usually more expensive than a standard tree company, but it is often worth the investment. Arborists have education and certifications that standard companies typically lack, leading to a more professional, expert-level service. Their expertise is particularly valuable for diseased or infested trees, as they can ensure safer removal and help prevent the issue from spreading. Additionally, arborists may be necessary for work near power lines, as uncertified companies are often not permitted to service these trees. If your goal is to preserve the health of your trees, an arborist is the best choice. Their services, such as stump grinding, are also performed with greater expertise to ensure a safe depth that won't cause your lawn to collapse over time.

Unlike some fruit trees, such as apple, sweet cherry, or pear that require at least two trees for pollination, most peach trees are self-pollinating. This means you can plant just one tree and still expect it to produce fruit, typically within two to four years. For best results, consult with a local landscaper to choose the right peach tree variety for your specific climate, soil type, and yard layout.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

While the fastest way to kill a tree is to simply cut it down, there are several other methods to choose from. You should hire a professional tree removal service to cut down a tree to ensure your personal and property safety. Some slower but effective options include treating or grinding the tree stump or using a basal bark treatment.
