We also mow, edge, irrigate and otherwise care for your lawn. And we provide standard home maintenance services like gutter cleaning, security light installation, etc. We pay special attention to the details of your project, and we bring together the right team and skill set to complete every project to the highest level of quality and client satisfaction. We are a new business, but we have 10 years of experience in a wide variety of property maintenance and lawn care projects as employees of other companies. We bring all of that experience to bear as a team for your project. We are owner operated.

"We had a very disappointing experience with Grounds Guys. If you are looking for landscaping work keep looking as these folks are dishonest, unprofessional and do poor quality work. For example, on one morning, a clearly intoxicated worker showed up in our backyard to work on the grass - we had to insist that he leave. We were charged several thousand dollars for sod replacement in the back yard. Within less than 3 weeks, almost all the sod was showing signs of disease or was just plain brown. We watered regularly, promptly notified Grounds Guys of the issue, but to date - after 3+ months, all they have done is taken our $7K and moved on. Jeff and Tony made up some fabricated story of needing a "soil test" which apparently was never done. Does it really take 6 weeks to get soil test results? Now they refuse to respond to messages. So for $7K plus we have a poorly built stone bench and a lawn of dead grass. The stepping stones are nice - but $7K is a bit pricey for a few stepping stones placed in a bunch of brown sod. We will be taking legal action soon and reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. Jared Johnson"

A quick search online may recommend that you give your dog apple cider vinegar to help decrease the pH level of your dog’s urine. This method won’t help your yard, though. Most turf grasses thrive on slightly acidic soil, so apple cider vinegar won’t make much of a difference. 

The main cause of grass death by dog urine isn’t the pH level anyway—it’s usually the excessive amount of nitrogen that kills your grass.

It’s not required, but it is helpful if your goal is to produce new growth. Any fertilization should occur after the lawn is aerated and before the compost is applied. If you also plan to spread seed, you’ll want to do so after the fertilizer is applied and once the ground is damp, but not wet.

At its core, soil pH is a measure of how many hydrogen ions are present in your soil. In highly acidic soil (low pH), plant growth is difficult due to reduced microbial availability in the dirt.

In highly alkaline soil, plants may struggle to grow due to iron deficiencies. In either case, a lack of balance deprives grass or plants of some key nutrients they need to grow.

A pH reading of 6 to 7.5 is ideal for most plants. Slight acidity is, generally speaking, less of an issue than slight alkalinity. Many plants can still thrive in slightly acidic soil.

Quack grass is a perennial plant that will continue returning yearly until you eradicate it above and below ground.

Properly preparing the soil for planting grass seed may include applying fertilizer several weeks before spreading the seed if you plan to overseed the lawn. However, in most cases involving a brand-new lawn, spreading a starter fertilizer along with the grass seed will give it the best chance of taking root quickly and growing strong.
