"It was a pleasure dealing with Southern Concrete through the entire process. The salesman was professional and exlpained everthing in detail. The dispatcher notified me that the crew was actually going to be a little early to try and beat the rain. The crew did an excellent job and made sure the jobsite was clean before they left. I would definitely recommend Southern Concrete to my friends and famly."

"Naji and his team were responsive and did a great job. Despite some rain delays, they poured the curb cut and a long sidewalk over a weekend, complete with excavation and cleanup. I would definitely use them again for any concrete work. As a small time real estate investor, I hire a lot of contractors. They are definitely top 10%!"

"MARIO has a bid a couple of jobs for us. One we did not end up buying the house. The job that he did for us was for a large outside shed. They did a fabulous job! Cleaned up the area. Was very conscious of not throwing concrete all over the place. His prices are very very fair. We have had, a patio put on the back of this house and that company poured their own concrete. They were not so conscientious and got concrete everywhere. I definitely will use MARIO for the additional concrete jobs we have for in the future. You will be very happy, and he is very knowledgeable about the permits needed in the area. Thank you again, MARIO!"

"Golden was very prompt and professional, and was able to fix my garage floor entry seam in less than the estimated time.  They knew what they were doing, wore protective goggles when performing the cutting and grinding work, and used top quality fast-drying cement to finish the job a day earlier than expected.  The end result was exactly what was looking for.  Two things stand out as less than ideal issues from the job - the price, and replacement to an irrigation hose damaged during construction.  The price was nearly double what I hoped to pay.  But I needed the job done now and trusted the Angie's List recommendations.  Golden did a good job completing the necessary repair in less time than expected, and were totally professional to deal with.  I just thought the price was way high.  During the project, an irrigation hose was damaged.  Golden replaced the hose but did not tie it into the system properly, requring me to fix it myself.  They deducted a small amount off the final price for my trouble.  All in all, I would use them again and recommend them to others.  I would just try to negotiate on the price up front next time.

"The 9 inches of rain from remnants of Patricia gave it the ultimate test and it performed beautifully. Whereas minor rain events caused ponding before, with the new drainage there was barely any standing water even as these heavy rains were ongoing.
The sprinkler system was trickier to fix than anticipated since a previous contractor had accidentally cut the electric lines between the nozzles. Rob and his crew were able to get everything back into working order.
Tree trimming also was handled professionally, as Rob carefully identified which branches needed trimming so as to let in sufficient light for the grass while maintaining the health of the tree.

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.

You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.

Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys. The most common types of welding include:

  • Stick welding: $100–$1,000

  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Gas welding: $150 and up

  • Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour

It will likely take an experienced pro less than an hour to install a ground rod, which is another reason why letting them handle the job is such a good idea. Safety concerns aside, it would likely take you much longer to install a ground rod if you decided to take this one as a DIY job.

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.
