"Of all the contractors that worked hard to remodel my kitchen, Mr. Jose Lopez of High Quality Sheetrock Repair, was my favorite. After the old counter-top and old back-splash tile was removed, Mr. Lopez removed the damaged drywall and replaced it. He carefully cut around the electrical receptacles and the plumbing supply lines to avoid leaving large gaps. He made sure that the drywall was straight so that the new counter-top will lay flush against the wall. He aligned the seams to provide a smooth surface on which to install the new tile back-splash. When told that the new tile may be glass tile, he returned with paint and painted the new drywall white to ensure consistent coloration of the translucent tile. He charged no extra fees for the painting work. The beautifully laid and finished kitchen counter-top and back-splash tile are a testament to Mr. Lopez's forethought, conscientious attitude and careful attention to detail."

"Beginning construction, Ivan and Crew completely gutted the living room. Removing the water damaged interior dry wall, carpet, insulation, exterior siding, and windows (all of which were going to be replaced). At one point in the demolition process, the only thing left were the studs; and you could literally walk through the house without using a door. The entryway wall was demoed, as was the fireplace (that was structural), AC duct, and the walls separating the Kitchen, Dinning Room, and Living Room. All the old carpet was removed, and the entryway step was jack-hammered backwards into it’s new position. The old attic AC unit (30 yrs old) was pulled down from the attic and that entire half of the home was emptied. New framing was added for a relocated AC duct and Fireplace (moved to the front of the room for the open concept). Likewise, 6 new 5’x5’ windows were framed in, as well as new patio french doors. Ivan also took this time to re-frame the attic platform for the AC, and added several massive support beams to hold the weight of the new open floor-plan. Furthermore, a new Audio/Video cabinet was framed out facing the living room, and new exterior walls went up. The old exterior walls were directly nailed to the studs. Post-demo, Ivan added a layer of thick plywood (to further help soundproof the house), water membrane, and then the HardiePlank siding. This wall was built to hold against a huge storm! A cool idea that Ivan suggested during re-framing was to add electrical outlets to the soffits, providing an easy place to plug-in Christmas lights. Sound proofing was added between the walls as the interior was framed in. Ivan was proactive managing the entire project, and for portions subcontracted out (to meet time constraints) he was onsite and oversaw the work. An example of this was having an electrician come out to move an electrical box. Before finishing the interior walls, conduit pipes were run between the Audio/Video cabinet and the TV in the front (and side, by the floating shelves) to allow for new HDMI cables to be pulled through in the future. A floating hearth was added below the TV mount, floating shelves were constructed (amazing carpentry work was involved structurally and aesthetically here – we wanted the weight of a human to be supported, in the event a child climbed it without being noticed). Furthermore, time consuming craftsmanship went into the framing of the windows and floorboards. Several days were nothing but manual labor – smoothing the joints/corners by hand. The ceiling was converted from a slope pitch into a tray ceiling, making the room feel more open. Ivan took the framing of the joints into account for future placement of 11 build-in speakers for a Dolby Atmos surround sound system. This included cutting out/running cables for 4 ceiling speakers and 5 vertical wall speakers. Once all the walls were done, standard renovation took place. Ivan textured the walls and painted using several coats. A careful eye on detail was provided as Ivan surveyed the tones of the colors throughout the day – and the affect of shadows on brightness… how the colors contrasted and popped with the custom carpentry. Several different hues of paint were used as a result, and it is beautiful. This process took approximately 3 months. General hick-up occurred along the way, as should be expected in any renovation, but nothing serious. Ivan’s crew was punctual – always starting work at 9am and sometimes working late into the evening to finish the days goals. The quality of the craftsmanship was beyond our expectation, and every day was filled with new excitement as we witnessed empty studs transformed into a modern living room. If you want something done – reach out to Ace Custom Building. They are THE local team to call first for estimates and timeframes. To broadly recap, the tasks undertaken in the living room were: - Built out the front step - Re-framed / replaced front door - Added rear Patio door - Added Support Beams - Removed the entry wall - Removed 2 dinning room walls - Framed and installed a new fireplace - Rebuilt the external walls - Added external outlets for Christmas light - Framed / installed 6 new windows - Demoed original brick chimney - Rebuilt AC unit platform in attic - Ran conduit for electronics - Custom Built Audio Video cabinet door, ran cables - Custom Built Floating Hearth - Custom Built Floating shelves - Custom Built molding around windows, floorboards - Cam-lights and speaker installed - Custom Built tray ceiling - Installed ceiling fan - Textured and painted walls and ceiling"

"Painter stopped paint about 1" above carpet on all baseboards. Had to go around and correct. Accent wall next to wall painted white had to go and adjust painting to have even lines. Several spots of paint on carpet that had to clean up; paint on door knobs which I cleaned up. Requested ceiling to be retextured where it was peeling up, instead contractor scraped the ceiling and painted it. There are areas that are still needing address on ceiling which I will correct. I failed to remove the blinds in a window contractor removed blind and layed on floor and they were stepped on. Ended up with a slat being broken. Office personnel did call and request I make sure I was happy before staff departed."

"Carlos and his team did a fantastic job painting our home. We went a few days past our projected completion date, but Carlos accommodated some last minute custom color changes to our ceilings and it turned out, absolutely stunning."

"

Jose and assistant removed damaged and cracked sheetrock and prepared them for painting. They then applied texture that matched existing walls and ceiling-both of which were different textures. They removed the old crown molding and put up the new one. They then painted the walls and then the entire ceiling. That's where the ceiling gave us a problem. There were many areas in the ceiling that bled through a yellowish color-most likely because of how old the sheetrock was-which was what the guess was. Therefore, they had to paint the entire ceiling with primer and then paint over it again with the paint. So basically, they had to paint that entire ceiling three times! I felt so bad that they had to do so much extra work! They also painted all of the new crown molding. I was expecting Jose to charge me extra for all the additional work the ceiling created but he didn't! Each time I have used Jose to do all repairs to our house. He does excellent work and his fees are very reasonable.

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

While you can remove wallpaper yourself, it is a labor-intensive process that risks damaging your walls. Common DIY methods include using a steamer to loosen the adhesive or spraying the paper with a solution of hot water and vinegar or dish soap before scraping. However, steamers can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly, and the spray-and-scrape method can harm drywall if it gets too wet or you scrape too aggressively. For these reasons, hiring a professional is often the fastest, easiest, and safest option. A pro has the experience and specialized tools to remove wallpaper efficiently without damaging the underlying surface, which saves time and minimizes the prep work needed for your next wall treatment.

White walls are considered a classic and timeless look and will most likely always be in style. A white wall easily blends into any type of home decor style which makes it a suitable option for most homeowners. Another appealing quality about white walls is that if it's not a color someone is going for, the color is easy to paint over.

Wallpaper steamers can be very helpful for removing large sections of wallpaper more easily, but they’re not always a good idea for DIYers. The drywall behind your wallpaper is meant to stay dry, and excessive moisture from improper technique with a wallpaper steamer can leave you with severe wall damage. Drywall also retains moisture, which could result in mold growth over time. It’s best to hire a professional to remove your wallpaper with a steamer to avoid wall damage and related moisture issues.

Yes, you can pay someone to strip wallpaper. Before you hang new wallpaper, you should hire a local wallpaper removal service to prep the surface properly. Wallpaper removal pros cost $0.55 to $1.50 per square foot or $500 to $700 per room. Prices vary by room size and removal technique, as some options are more labor-intensive.

The average cost to remove wood paneling is $2,800, but total costs may be higher or lower depending on the size of the room, your location, and the amount of prep work required. Once the paneling is gone, you may have additional costs depending on the condition of the wall beneath.
