Since 1997 Cutting Edge Closets, a local independent, family owned business, has been helping homeowners all over Greater Houston utilize their storage space in every room in the house. Walk-in closets, reach-in closets, Home Offices, Media Centers, Garages, Laundry Rooms, and Pantries are some of the areas we specialize in. We take great pride in manufacturing our own products, in our state of the art facility located in Tomball, Tx. Cutting Edge Closets is a BBB ACCREDITED A+ rated business with 0 complaints in over 22 years! All of our work is covered by our Lifetime Guarantee! Our trained designers will meet with you in your home for a Free Design Consultation, taking an inventory of your storage items and discussing your exact storage needs. Using our exclusive CAD program, our designers can show you a 3D rendering of your project, many times right there during the consultation. For larger projects it usually takes a couple days to complete your drawings, at which time you may visit our showroom to review your design, participate in a webinar with your designer, or schedule a second in home consultation for a design review. Our trained installers are Cutting Edge Closets employees that have gone through a rigorous training program and screening. All of our current installers have 10 years or more of experience, with a few approaching 20 years with our company! They will arrive at your home in our clean company vans to complete your install. Most of our installs take only one day! And all of our work will ALWAYS end with our signature "Spotless Clean-up". Give Cutting Edge Closets a call today, and have your space organized quickly and efficiently by the pros at Cutting Edge Closets.

"In my new Houston high-rise condo I had Cutting Edge rebuil 5 closets, including a giant master walk-in with lighted glass cabinets for purse display; a storage closet for extra products and clothing; laundry cabinets; butler's pantry; and, a guest bedroom built-in for hanging and storage. Not my first time at closet/cabinet custom work. But this time was a pleasure! Bill came immediately for in-home planning, then in 3 days he held a zoom design review, 2nd zoom design review and fast, then in 10 days, perfect execution of the plan. Not one minute of that horrible process of waiting for carpenters, painters to stink up and cover the space with tarps - it is what I would call "fast custom." The work is beautiful, very high-end. Very fair price, turn-key quote that was 100% the final bill - No surprises. Installers were super professional and determined that the customer would be happy -- and I am one happy customer! Cutting Edge Owner even came to check out during the job! They have done this nearly 30 yrs. and are exactly what you pray for when you need a contractor."

We are a remodeling company specializing in full scale kitchen/bath remodels. I am a native Houstonian who operates within the City of Houston, and many of the surrounding areas. We have many references available and a website with many pictures of examples of our work. We back everything with a full warranty service for up to one year. All our sub-contractors are specifically qualified in their fields. We are fully insured and bonded. Our quality is outstanding and customer service is second to none in this industry! Try us, see what we can do for you. Ask about our Angie's List discount! Hope to hear from you soon!

"Kitchen/Family Room Remodel 01-02/2023 Scope: Remodel included kitchen area and family room, plus laundry room and walk-in pantry—a total of about 600 sq ft. . Area was last remodeled in 1992—when new cabinets were built in-place. Capmire Projects’ remodel included: painting all wood cabinetry (inside and outside), baseboards & wood trim, wood doors, walls and ceiling; replacing: tile floor, countertops, backsplash, plumbing & sinks, all electrical outlets and switches, hvac vents, undercabinet lights, and all ceiling lights—including 11 cans and a chandelier over kitchen table. Modifications in cabinetry were made in the laundry room and pantry to add more shelf space. Drawer slide-hardware was replaced to provided smooth operation. Process: Capmire’s team arrived on 01/16/2023 and the entire job was completed 24 days later on 02/08/2023. Work proceeded every day, except Sundays, from about 8:00am to 5:00pm. Subcontractors were used on plumbing, electrical work, spray painting, and quartz countertop installation. We were kept informed on what would be done each day—either by Cameron Capps, the job manager or by Roberto Mejia, the job foreman. None of our questions were discounted or ignored. Honesty was paramount on everyone’s part. Change orders were easily dispatched—especially when they were decided before it became onerous to do so. The quality of work is excellent, and we are very satisfied with the final product. It should be mentioned that the homeowner is responsible for selecting and purchasing all finishing hardware (cabinet knobs and pulls, for example), two sinks, faucets, light fixtures, and new appliances (two garbage disposals and microwave). Budgets are included in the bid for slabs and tile. Clearly, the selection and availability of these items during the progression of the job is a determinant in reducing the time span of the project. Recommendations: We spent two weeks packing up and moving everything from the work space. Boxes of kitchen items, artworks, etc. were moved to a bedroom not in use. Furniture was moved to an adjacent living room/dining room area—where plastic zipper doors were employed to keep dust isolated to the work space. Dust was undoubtedly minimized, but it still invaded—try to cover as much as possible with plastic sheets. Remodeling is not necessarily an easy or unmessy process—but it can be made much more difficult by messy workers and poor management. ( I know this fact from experience with other contractors.) Final Review: Without question, we can recommend Capmire Projects for any remodeling needed. In 2015, Cameron Capps and company remodeled our master bath. When, we decided to embark on the kitchen remodel in 2023, we did not hesitate to call him in again. His honest and rigorous management of the project; his retention of good workers and selection of good quality subcontractors; plus his experienced cost estimations combine to create a satisfying experience for the homeowners. Final Total Cost: $43,800.00."

I started my business in the late 1980’s after spending several years in the built-in appliance business. I always enjoyed woodworking and had developed quite an interest in kitchens. For over 20 years now I have been building and designing kitchens, baths, built-in’s, furniture and more. I always try to look at the functionality of things as well as the beauty. I also try to take the time to talk and listen to my customers about what they are looking for and expect. Together, we have built a lot of wonderful things. give us a call and let us design and build your dream kitchen.

"Rick, owner, was excellent to work with. He installed a new double-oven to replace an old separate microwave and oven. This required modifying the existing cabinets, building a new taller pull-out drawer, and color-matching the existing stained/varnished cabinets. The quality of the new drawer was excellent, matched color (despite the previous color no longer being sold in stores), and installed the new oven (delivered previously by a separate vendor). He came a week prior to install to take measurements, check that our electrical was sufficient to handle the new oven combo, and built the new drawer off site during that following week. This made install quick and easy the following week. Rick was kind, easy to work with, worked around our difficult work schedules, and did really excellent work. I would not hesitate to hire him again and highly recommend him."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Yes, books are typically heavier than clothes, unless you have a collection exclusively of paperbacks or comic books. That’s why packing lots of books warrants careful planning and consideration. Consider packing up your reading collection first to determine whether you need to downsize it before loading it into your moving truck.

There are a few reasons custom closets are expensive: materials used, the luxury factor, and time to build. The people who can afford custom closets are those who can afford increased rates, and construction workers and contractors know this and charge accordingly. The time to build custom closets is substantial, especially if expensive material is being used or intricate details (like carved wood) are added to the project.

You can budget a little less money for how to build a closet with wire shelves than with wood shelves. Some people don’t like the aesthetics that wire shelves provide, though, meaning they’ll gladly spend a little more to add wood shelves to the build. If you decide to buy pre-made wire shelves instead of building custom-sized wood shelves, you’ll be restricted in the closet shelving dimensions you can use.

You can design your own closet, but it’s usually better to hire a professional to do the work for you. Not only will you get years of design experience to guide you toward the right layout and material choices, but you’ll also only pay slightly more hiring a professional than you would creating your own plans and hiring a carpenter. A high-quality closet designer can provide insight into how to lay out your closet, and they may be able to find you a good deal on the carpentry or complete the work using an affordable, in-house team.

We use storage in nearly every room of the house, so it's no surprise that we lose track of things from time to time. The best way to organize storage is to declutter each year to cut down on auxiliary items that can be donated or tossed. Once you decide what's worth keeping, create an inventory list for all boxes you won't open for at least six months.
