"Zach, Aquiles and their team did great job and my kitchen looks much better than it was before Hurricane Harvey. The team members were all courteous and diligent, well trained to deal with customers. It took me 3 months to decide which GC to retain for my restoration project because I got too careful about selection, but my decision turned out to be correct. Furthermore, Ellie’s customer service is something that I never had with other contractors. She was so responsive and patient listening to us for any concerns, I could feel at ease throughout the project. Now I am asking them to estimate repair/remodeling of my stairway because I couldn’t think of any better ones. Tell-Project definitely helped me and my family recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey."

"We’re currently remodeling two bathrooms under the same contract. The first bathroom is complete, and the second one just started this week. While their bid wasn’t the lowest we received, it felt fair and, in hindsight, definitely worth it. The project manager was an excellent communicator—knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and never pressured us to accept the offer. We’re extremely pleased with the quality of work on the first bathroom and are confident the second will turn out just as well. A tip for future clients: make sure you have all the necessary materials on hand. We did, and the team completed the bathroom ahead of schedule. The space is narrow, so the photo angles don’t do it justice, but I hope they still give a sense of the high-quality work delivered."

I owned a construction company for 32 years and I retired a couple of years ago and I have done all the repairs around my house and got kinda board so I have started doing handyman jobs and I can do just about anything that has to do with construction. Remodeling and new construction . I have a fairly new Ford f-250 and a 16 ft trailer for carrying materials for jobs if needed. I take pride in the work that I do and strive to do a professional job.

I come from a family of builders, carpenters, and mechanics, which shaped my strong work ethic and attention to detail. I owned and operated Roberts Construction for 15+ years, building custom homes and hotels, managing every phase—from foundation to final finishes, including custom staircases and cabinetry.\nI also owned and operated A1 Extreme in houston texas which was a car audio shop, specializing in custom wooden and fiberglass subwoofer enclosures, with several award-winning builds done.\nI take pride in doing every job the right way—never cutting corners. When I commit to a project, you can expect professional, on-time work with quality I stand behind. If I’m not confident I can do it right, I won’t take the job.

"DAV Construction was attentive to my concerns and were very cooperative in addressing them. They did quality work, and performed according to the schedule that we had agreed upon. My experience with other contractors has never been so favorable: generally they have come with the attitude that the job is theirs for the asking, and would I please stay out of the way. DAV was not like that at all. They were solicitous of my opinions; they were happy to answer any questions that I had; they were ready to adjust to circumstances (you never know how a job will go until you start it). I found them easy to work with, and I am very satisfied with the results."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

Removing a load-bearing wall affects the structural integrity of your home, so you’ll need a permit before starting the work. Building codes vary by municipality, and obtaining a permit and having the work inspected after completion will ensure you’re in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Converting a carport into a garage can vary in difficulty depending on its configuration, the condition of the foundation or slab, and its location relative to the house. The process has a lot in common with a home addition, but you can often skip non-essential finishes like fine flooring, trim work, or even drywall and HVAC. The conversion requires experience with drywall, insulation, and other building materials to ensure it’s done safely and correctly. While it might be possible for a DIYer with the proper tools and skills to do the work, it is a complicated and potentially dangerous job. If you’re new to basic construction, it's best to leave this project to the professionals.

Framing with metal studs can be significantly faster than using wooden studs, provided you have some experience working with the material. While you can use virtually instant pneumatic nailers with wood, metal requires installing screws. However, because metal is lighter, straighter, usually comes cut-to-length, and doesn't require sorting for the best pieces, you can save significant time using metal instead of wood.

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.
