The project was completed within the expected timeframe, and the pricing was fair and reasonable. Every member of the team was trustworthy, respectful, and courteous throughout the process. "Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

R-30 insulation is better for higher thermal resistance, but whether it’s "better" depends on the application. R-30 is much thicker and suited for areas like attics or floors in cold climates, where more insulation is required. R-13, on the other hand, is thinner and works well for 2x4 walls or milder climates where less insulation is sufficient. Choosing between R-13 and R-30 depends on the area being insulated and the climate. For example, R-30 provides more insulation but may not fit everywhere in your home.

Insulating an unheated garage can still be worth it. For instance, insulating an attached garage can help with heat loss from your house in general, and it can also make it easier to store electronics in your garage without worrying about them being exposed to extreme temperatures.

If you use your detached garage as a workspace, insulation can still make a difference. Plus, you can use space heaters and a window unit AC to help condition the space while you work without installing heating.

Radiant barriers and insulation serve different purposes, so one is not inherently better than the other. Radiant barriers reflect radiant heat, helping keep spaces cool, especially in hot climates, while insulation slows heat transfer through conduction. For optimal energy efficiency, it’s best to use both together.

Radiant barriers can enhance the performance of insulation by preventing heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. The choice between them depends on specific climate conditions and the building’s design requirements.

Yes, you should insulate your copper pipes to help regulate their temperature. Well-insulated copper pipes will be protected from freezing and can conserve energy by keeping hot water warm for longer. Foam rubber insulation tubes are the best pipe insulation to prevent freezing since they fit tightly around the pipes while still maintaining some flexibility.

Your home's location, budget, and the type of insulation you’re using are just a few of the factors that can help you choose the right insulation. For example, blown-in insulation is typically used in attic spaces, while batts and rolls are ideal for floors and walls. Blown-in insulation is usually a good option if you're adding more insulation to an area that already has some, but not enough.
