LJ Construction

Jiame (pronounced "Jaime") was very accessible and easy to reach.  We made arrangement for him to come to my home and he arrived on time.  I described the job and drew out a very rough sketch for him, and he measured the space and brainstormed ideas with me.  He showed up again a couple of days later at an agreed-upon time, this time with his master carpenter (whose name I do not recall).  The carpenter once again confirmed the measurements.  Within a week, the pair delivered the custom shelves I had asked for.  The shelves were of good quality and nicely stained.  However, the stain had not dried completely and the shelves were not immediately installed.  The pair returned for a third visit, a few days later, and installed the shelves.  The shelves had to be sanded down at the edges in order to snugly and properly fit the space.  They also installed a small granite surface under the shelves which could be used as a desk, along with a small desk drawer under the granite.  Jiame sent me several photos of various granite types to allow me to choose the look I wanted.  The installation itself took a couple of hours.  The finished product looks great and has held up with no issues to date.  I would recommend Jiame and his master carpenter for custom shelving and/or woodwork.  The next time I have a project, I will be calling him again.

The workers brought all the materials and constructed the cedar fence in a professional manner.  They removed the old fence and disposed of it.  Posts were set and boards were secured with screws, which is what I requested.

It went great. Work was finished quickly and done well.  Even welded a custom frame.

Repair to our drywall is invisible. They matched the color of my paint and repainted the entire wall--not just the repair sites. We are very pleased with the results!

Contractor was not fully knowledgeable or experienced on proper methods for door replacement.  Contractor did only fair job on refinishing main entry doors.  Contractor had extreme difficulty in matching paint colors.  He was perfectly willing to keep working on the project until we were satisfied. 

Very happy with completed projects.  The first part of the project were things we wanted to have done, but also gave us opportunity to see Jaime and his crew at work before we tackled the bigger project.We were impressed from the beginning.  Jaime is very personable and we felt comfortable having him in our home.  When we told him the work we wanted to have done, he presented us with estimates in a very timely manner.  Workers were always on-time and work was done efficiently. We did not feel like there were intruders in our home...everyone was pleasant and diligent in their work.  At the end of the day, they cleaned up the area as much as they could so we could use other parts of the room.

I liked everything about them.  They didn’t leave any mess when they were done.  They did exactly what they said they were going to do and did it for less than they estimated it.

Our kitchen was damaged due to a plumbing leak behind the kitchen wall. Drywall and insulation were damaged. Base cabinets and counter top were also damaged. They needed to repair wall, replace insulation and rebuild damaged cabinets and new counter top. We also had damage to our ceiling. The ceiling also was repaired and refinished. 
As bad as the situation looked, LJ Construction made the experience as pleasant as it could be. They were timely, courteous and overall, willing to do whatever it took to get our kitchen back to even better than it was prior to the damage.
I would not hesitate calling them again for any home repair.

LJ Construction is one of the best contractors I've ever worked with, but the company we chose to actually do this work (CEI, Cool Energy Insulation, McAllen,TX) was extremely unprofessional.  First, let me say that the work itself was fantastic when they FINALLY finished, but they were 5.5 hours late for a 4-hour job that ended up taking 8+ hours.  CEI kept my contractor 'hanging' all morning, with constant promises that they were "almost there" -- and then were totally unapologetic for the delay when they arrived.

The contractor was punctual, involved with oversight of all phases, communicative and -- simply a NICE guy, very pleasant.  The entire crew was respectful and they all worked very well together.  The job took a little longer than expected, but the results were well worth the extra time.  It was expensive but ended up being less than the original estimate, and I've already enlisted this company for another job.  My highest recommendation -- you'll appreciate having these guys around the house.
