Customers say: Quick response

"Armando and his crew did an excellent job in renovating our home that we were putting up for sale. It started out as a small project repairing/replacing dry wall in one of the bedrooms. Once I saw what great work they did, I hired them for the rest of the renovations. They took great care of the home in being mindful to cover items before painting, care of furniture when it had to be moved in another so they could paint or put new flooring in. The crew was polite, professional, on time and always communicated well during the project. I highly recommend them and I plan to use them in the future on other projects,"

"Mr Roundtree came into my home and did a great job of repairing several different items. He was prompt and did an excellent job of taking care of the repairs on the promised day. His pricing was fair went above and beyond to make sure that the job was done to my satisfaction. He repaired a light, installed and repaired tile and fixed an outdoor ceiling including trim work and paint. I definitely will use him again and was very pleased with the quality of his work."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a retaining wall varies based on its material, installation quality, maintenance, and local climate, with an average range of 20 to 100 years. Retaining walls made from durable materials like concrete, stone, and brick generally last a minimum of 50 years. Concrete walls typically last between 50 and 100 years, while brick can last for over a century in ideal conditions. Timber retaining walls can last from 20 to 40 years, depending on the wood quality, and pressure-treated wood walls average around 30 years. It is important to note that a retaining wall can fail prematurely if it was poorly constructed, for example, with inefficient footings or without necessary rebar reinforcements.

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.

Costs range from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.

Rebar is a steel support that goes inside concrete to prevent structural damage over time. Concrete is susceptible to impact, weight, and tension. By inserting rebar into the concrete during the installation, you can help extend its lifespan and avoid hazardous situations where the foundation of your home gives way to tensile forces.
