"John and Christina are two of the kindest and most hardworking individuals that I have done business with. They kept in touch with me throughout the whole process and always called, texted, or alerted me to what was happening and occurring at all times throughout the project. DeShawn and Juan did an excellent job on my landscaping project. Both gave meticulous attention to all the details of the projects and answered all of my questions throughout the whole process. I will DEFINITELY use them again and highly recommend Williams Street Nursery to anyone considering lawncare, landscaping, or other yard projects. Brian S."

"STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMERS!! They are a group of scammers: they sent 3 people to complete the work of 2.5 hours, but ended up charging for 15 hours and claiming that the work was done by 5 people. Not to mention that 1 hour of the work of 1 person was billed about $500, the total bill was $7K!! The actual cost of the job was about $1200, so they charged 6 times more that it should be! They got the job from insurance and told me that I have to complete positive review in order to receive the payment from insurance, after receiving the positive review (despite the fact that the job was half done), then they claimed that insurance is not going to pay the bill (as insurance said that the cost of job is much lower than they changed) , this fraudulent company now is demanding the payment from me despite the fact of me not even hiring them but they’ve been provided to me by insurance! Please contact me in order to file a class action lawsuit against timber warriors, as I was able to find out that this company is engaging in illegal and criminal activities like intentionally overcharging customers and misrepresentation of events!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMERS!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The cost for a professional tree service runs anywhere between $200 and $760, depending on the size and type of the tree. It might also cost more if you live in a remote area or if the tree is difficult to access, though a pro might offer a discount if you have multiple trees to trim.

It’s usually best to transplant a tree when it’s dormant. For some, the best option is transplanting during fall after the leaves have fallen—October or November. In other cases, it’s best to transplant before new growth begins in the spring, often around March. But avoid transplanting during winter because the soil is harder and colder, and the tree won’t have the same chance to acclimate.

There are many signs that a tree is diseased or dying, and if you suspect that’s the case, you should call an arborist immediately. You might notice rot or fungus on the trunk or that the tree is beginning to lean to one side. Brittle branches or signs of root damage are other indicators that a tree is in trouble. If the tree is dying, it might be time to cut the tree down so it doesn’t fall.

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.

The best time to cut down a tree is in winter or early spring, as the leaves have fallen and the tree is dormant —this is also why winter is the best time to trim trees. Frozen ground can secure the tree stump and neighboring trees and shrubs in place, reducing the risk of the tree changing direction. Because the leaves have fallen, there is also less risk of foliage from the tree being tangled up with that of another tree. If you hire a pro, tree services are the least busy during winter, meaning they may offer lower rates.
