"This is the second time I (my company and I) have hired him. And again he did not disappoint! He was wonderful! Was always there on time, worked hard and was very fast and diligent to complete the job in record time. His work was perfect and he always went the extra mile. "Chris and his crew are very professional and efficient. We live in a very rural area without any close hardware stores. As with anything in rural Texas there will be glitches without a quick way to retrieve parts etc. This happened, but it is not unexpected. Chris, Michael and his crew were exceptionally friendly, professional and efficient and performed all work in a timely manner. My wife and I intend to keep them busy with other projects as needed. Cost was very reasonable and well under other quotes. The cost also included the price of the replacement windows. I provided the hot water heater. They also cleaned up the connections for the hot water heater and moved us into the 21st century in that regard.

"I was pleased with Honey Do services from the time I called for an appointment, the professional who came out to give me bid to the installation of a handrail on front steps. Everyone was friendly and wanted to make sure the work was done in timely manner and that I was pleased."

"Jim did an extensive remodel on a rent house for us. He gave good advice and was talented enough to handle all the projects including plumbing, electrical, ceiling fans, window install, door and jam replacement, new shower where used to be a tub, painting and texturing. Always responded to calls or texts and asked questions when something popped up we hadn t discussed. Worked hard and had some workers who were similarly diligent. It was a good experience for us and that isn t always the case with everyone you hire."

"So far we are happy with the workmanship  and the time frame he told us he would start and finish the job. In fact he told me that it would be done by July 1st as he had other jobs they were working on but he finished before the middle of June.  They cleaned up their mess and carried away what they had torn up which helped us a lot. They spray painted the steel beams white so it would match the existing covered porch we already had so it looks cool and we just love it.  Thanks Archie!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

Different types of tile cutters may work best depending on the type of tile you are cutting and the size of your project. There are two main types of tile cutters: manual and electric. Manual tile cutters are quick and easy to use for small projects and softer tile materials, but they can only make straight cuts. Electric tile cutters make light work of big projects and can cut through harder materials.

The lifespan of tile flooring can vary significantly based on the material and maintenance. Generally, tile flooring can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, but high-quality, well-maintained ceramic tile can last 75 to 100 years. To achieve a longer lifespan, you should clean the tiles and grout regularly, reseal the grout annually, keep the floor dry, and avoid placing extremely heavy items on it to prevent cracking. Choosing a high-quality tile (Grade 1) will also contribute to its longevity.

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.
