Small jobs welcome

"Joel and his crew came out when they said they would and got straight to work. They laid compost down, the grass sods, trimmed bushes and trimmed a tree. They cleaned up after themselves and walked around my property to ensure I was satisfied with overall projects. Will hire again for Yard Work, Sprinklers and Fence Repair, clean and stain."

"

This review is a bit late, but well-deserved, nonetheless. On Tezel Rd, I had seen a wooden picket fence over the years that was still looking pretty solid. The sign on it read Dominion Fences, so I looked it up and called them to give me a quote for replacing two-thirds of my backyard fence, which had fallen into disrepair. I met with Dennis, the owner, and agreed to hire him. His crew arrived on the day he said they would start and they finished on time in the 3 days he quoted. They dug out and replaced the old concrete and poured new concrete for the fence posts.  I was very impressed with the work that was done. All of the old material was hauled away and not a trace was left behind. He explained beforehand that he would use 4? pickets (or better), as we had agreed, but later told me that he had some material left over from another job and would be able to install the 6? pickets for the same price. I was very lucky.  Also, as he explained to me, his crew installs a third horizontal rail for added stability. They built two new gates and used new hardware for these. I would recommend this company for fence work. Dennis is very honest and forthright. He was easy to reach and called back promptly if he missed the call or when I left a voicemail. His price quote was the best I had received for the work I needed, and was exactly what I paid when the work was done. I was very pleased and recommend this company for any fencing work. Over a year later, it still looks great and I have had no issues at all.

In addition, I later hired this company to build a patio cover with lights and ceiling fans, as well as install new siding and paint the exterior of my house. Reviews have been submitted.

"Wade is a Godsend! He is efficient, trustworthy, and a very hard worker. I have hired him to mow my lawn, spray bug and weed killer, cleaned my gutters, and he will soon put up a fence. He is my go to for all my handyman projects. I plan to hire him for concrete staining and some renovation projects I have in the works. I can not recommend him highly enough. Hire him you won’t go wrong!"

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

Droppings from cockroaches, squirrels, mice, bats, and birds can resemble rat poop, making it easy to confuse one for another. Mouse droppings are smaller and more pointed, cockroach droppings resemble tiny black specks or ground pepper, and bat guano can look similar but usually crumbles into powder. Bird droppings sometimes have a similar shape, but often include white uric acid deposits. If in doubt, it’s best to consult a pest control professional for proper identification and removal.

While possums don’t typically carry rabies, they can have lice, fleas, ticks, and mites. According to the University of California’s Pest Management Program, possums can also carry diseases like leptospirosis, tuberculosis, toxoplasmosis, coccidiosis, and fevers. Possums are also the carriers of a parasite that can pass to horses and cats called Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM).

If the cat is stray (you noticed a collar or other signs of domestication), the kind thing to do is to try and find the owner. Call around to other neighbors to see if they can lead you in the right direction. If you can get close enough to snap a picture, try posting an image of the cat to local community groups and pages on social media.

If the cat is feral, you can try to humanely trap them and participate in a local shelter’s TNR program. Before attempting capture, call around to local rescues and shelters to make sure one near you does participate in a TNR program. They may even be able to catch the cat for you.

Squirrels rely heavily on their sense of smell and are deterred by a variety of scents. Some of the most effective smells for repelling them include peppermint oil, coffee grounds, white vinegar, garlic, cinnamon, rosemary, and predator urine. They also have a strong aversion to capsaicin, the compound that makes chili peppers hot, making capsaicin-based sprays an effective repellent for areas like gardens or bird feeders. For a DIY solution, you can create a spray from garlic and vinegar and apply it daily. Additionally, squirrels dislike strong, fresh scents, so placing items like strong-smelling soaps or dryer sheets in areas they frequent can also help keep them away.

Small animals, particularly rats and mice, like to burrow inside pool heaters. To keep them out, seal any entry points with caulk or steel wool. Then, place mothballs inside or around your pool heater. As a final measure of protection, you can cover the pool heater in hardware cloth or wood paneling to further block entry points.
