Could never get an estimate. Mark called the day of appt. and stated he needed to pick his child up from school, so no problem, an rescheduled for the next day. He called again the following day and stated he was sick and would swing by the next day an take a look and let me know if he had any questions. Two days later I haven't heard from the company. My suggestion to potential customers is to look elsewhere and to Alamo Fence, follow up on your promises to provide an estimate. Very disappointed.

I called Alamo Fence Company for a bid after hearing positive reviews. At first, things were great- Marc came out on time for the bid. However, everything went downhill after that. It took several days to get a quote back, then several phone calls to get a hold of the company with questions. We decided to price out several different fencing options, which was a nightmare... Marc kept saying he would "stop by" to update the bid, but never communicated when he would come. I had to call the office at least 3 times to check on when we would receive an updated bid. Then, when they emailed the quote, they forgot to attach it, which added another week of waiting and several office phone calls to get the promised quote. I always felt like we were bothering them when we asked for anything. The worst part is that when they gave us a final bid, they misquoted the cost of the fencing. We were the ones who pointed out to them that their pricing seemed very low for wood relative to chain link and were curious why. Instead of honoring their initial stated numbers or providing some sort of discount for us helping with THEIR mistake, they simply stated they were "sorry" and weren't able to even offer a 5% angie's list discount. According to Yelp, we are not the first customer to have this problem, which is very disappointing. I found this company to be incredibly frustrating to communicate with, and for that reason we decided not to work with them. All that said, I would recommend their online estimator tool; it was very close to what they quoted us in the end.

We love the fence, have no complaints about it. But the service is TERRIBLE! This fence is at my 83 yr-old Mom's property and the 3 gates they installed in March (with the fence) have *NEVER* worked. Robert has lied to us time after time after time about who would be coming by to fix these gates and just when that might be. We weren't asking for anything out of the ordinary. We have to have gates that will open and close (one of the gates could NEVER be opened, since the fence was installed) and that can be locked from the inside for her safety and protection. They installed hardware on the gates that you padlock from the OUTSIDE (who DOES that?!?!?); anyway, by the time we finally got Greg to come out and look at the gates (YESTERDAY, 4 Aug!), they had cobbled up so much crappy hardware on these gates, you wouldn't believe it. Greg practically called my Mom a liar because he said his people would NEVER have installed the hardware he found! (can you believe it?) I don't know who he thought would have installed it, because neither of the two of us could have done it. Anyway, completely satisfied with the wooden fence, completely dis-satisfied with the service and the workmanship on the gates. Would NEVER use this company again for anything, and I am actually planning to have a new 4' chain link fence around my own property 2 blocks away from Mom's...looking for a new fence contractor!

Did not show up to perform estimate even though a company representative called and confirmed the appointment the day of said appointment.
Description of Work: Communicated with a company representative on 11/27/13 regarding an estimate on a railing repair for an office building which had been damaged by a car. The railing had originally been installed by said Alamo Fence Company on 08/07/2009. Estimate appointment was set for 12/02/13 and the company do not show for the appointment or call to reschedule.

Sales was great. Rep kept in touch on progress and followed up on problems and resolved them. Installation crew was professional but messy. Instead of hauling away the cement scrapes and extra dirt fro the post holes, they dumped them behind the house in a common area. Then spread them out to make it and quot;look betterand quot;. It looks awful as this area was a wooded area and the cement clumps (some large) stand out. Sales rep is coming this AM to discuss and resolve. If he can't get it cleaned up then I will have to clean it up myself. Painter of finished fence cleaned his spray nozzle out on the grass with thinner and killed the grass in that area. Otherwise fence looks great and the job is quality. The above two complaints are things that you can prevent from happening from the beginning if you know about them and tell them up front what you expect. Unfortunately, I was not aware that I should have to tell them what was expected as is seemed obvious.

I received 3 estimates and all three providers used the same measurements and materials. One quote was significantly higher than the other two and Alamo Fence was the low bid but the next higher bid was less than 2% higher. I don't recall the exact measurements but this fence now encloses the backyard for a 1.24 acre lot. The work was completed within 2 days and was done very well. When I selected this company my #1 concern was quality and based on the reviews and my discussion with the vendor I felt that Alamo would provide the best quality and the price certainly sealed the deal for me.

My point of contact was Rick Estlick. It was a complex project with many details to coordinate. Rick did a great job getting everything done on time and properly. Because of the sloping ground around our swimming pool, the height of each individual fence post had to be customized to give a level top line to the fence. They did a great job with this project. The stone masonry work on the entryway gate was exceptional. Communication was good throughout. Great job.

Alamo Fence of San Antonio built our fence in Jan. 2011 and it began pulling apart from the 4x4s in late 2012. I called in December 2012 to report the problem. Rick told meand quot; and quot;our nails do not come outand quot;. I invited him to come by and see, which he did. I was not called prior to his coming and therefore was not at home when he came so that I could speak with him. Rick came by another time when I could not go out to meet with him. I have a husband with Alzheimer's and am available after a caregiver arrives each morning. Rick told over the phone that I needed to change the landscaping by the fence because it was causing the problem. The landscaping had not changed since before the fence was built! I understood that there was no warrenty and was willing to pay. I told Rick that. Rick said that they and quot;do no job less than $1200. 00and quot;. I said that was a lot and Rick then told me it and quot; could be less since they built the fenceand quot;. ??? 8 more times I have called in the past months - I have been told by Rick that he'll be by, the last times were May 31, 2013 and June 8, 2013. He has yet to come and doesn't have the courtesy to call to say he isn't able to come. The company states on its web site and quot;..... handle it all...small jobs, large jobs. temporary jobs....and quot; Maybe not a repair job on a fence they built? Apparently once they have built the fence and gotten paid, custromer service is gone. I would NEVER recommend this company!

I called Rick Eslick for an estimate. Rick was prompt and on time. He took measurement and gave me an estimate on the spot. He showed me picture of what our fence would look like and even took me around to show me others fences in the area. The crew showed up and dug holes by hand and set the cedar post and wire. Installed two 6 feet masonry columns. About a week later after the wrought iron fence was made came out and installed across the front. The workers were professional, cleaned up after themselves, and were timely in their work. The fencing looks great. We have gotten many compliments from our neighbors on our fencing. I would highly recommend this company for any fencing job.

Description of Work: Rick came out and gave me an estimate to replace 2sections of fence. 3weeks later the crew came out and took 2 days to get the job done... No problem. When they finished I found reams of nails for the air gun hammer left on the back side of the gate. After I gave approval for the final payment to be authorized on my credit card 2 days later I found the gate pickets about four of them were note nailed down. I called Rick and explained and he said he would go out and finish the gate himself. That was over 30 days ago! This company takes the MONEY and run!No follow up! Called after waiting 2 weeks for Rick to finish the gate and spoke to Robert! He said that he would have someone come out right away! Yep, nice talk! No follow through! Please steer clear of these slick talking guys and go with a real Texas company that stands by their work and follows through!

Initailly I got an estimate from another company but decided to go with Alamo. Alamo quoted me a price very close to the other fence company Before the workers came to put up the fence, I asked Rick if I could get at least one day advance notice of when workers would be out. I wanted advance notice because my neighbor had a dog and he (neighbor) wanted to know so he could put the dog somewhere else while they were putting up the fence. I never got the one day advance notice, but I was called on the morning when workers came out; actually it was a message left on my answering machine. Also, I had requested for the gate doors to open inward. It's a good thing I was there when they started to put the gate because I found out they were going to have the gate open outwards. When I asked the workers about it they showed me a copy of the diagram. Needless to say, the workers never got the word. Anyway, he said it's a good thing I was there and it was no problem to put doors so they open inwards. Other than that, they did an excellent job.

Contacted company for an estimate to replace a fence and from the get-go the person we spoke with, Rick, was rude. Did not seem interested in coming out for the bid and scheduled the appointment for 4 days later. He contacted us an hour prior to the appointment time saying he was running late and wanted to know if we still wanted the bid. We said yes and he hesitantly agreed to still meet at scheduled time. Arrived early though he already seemed annoyed. He then claimed we did not give him the footage (though we did) and they have a $1200 job minimum we wouldn't meet. Overall just a very poor experience.

Robert measured the property line and gave us a bid. Santiago and the workmen completed a fairly extensive and difficult job in three days. There were no extra charges or additional money requested due to bad bid work.
Description of Work: Alamo Fence Company Are you considering having a new fence built as part of a new dwelling, or an old fence torn down and replaced with a new one for an older existing home? Then please write down these five items: 1) Alamo Fence Company; 2) Phone 210-566-6816; 3) web site; http://www.alamofencesa.com/index.html 4) Robert, a customer service representative; 5) Santiago, an installer that works for Alamo Fence Company. Background: We own an older home, built in 1979. We have kept it in excellent condition. It had the original fence, a wooden basket weave that should have been replaced years ago. We just kept replacing a board here and a board there. Replacing a fence is something that is easy to put off. There is some money involved, and there are most often higher priorities. So, you replace a board here, and a board there. Last summer my neighbor and I had a talk over the fence. We both decided that we would like to replace our fence. A neighbor about half a block up the street had a new fence put in and she gave us the name of the contractor. I called several times, but the person never answered. A friend recommended a handy man who also is listed on Angie’s List of San Antonio. He came out and measured the area, but never called back. After more than a week I called him. He said that the job was probably too much for him. I was disappointed that he did not call me back and tell me this. My neighbor and I were now stumped. I began to realize that having our old fence removed and replaced with a new one was not going to be an easy task. Who to call? Who to trust? Another friend recommended Alamo Fence Company. Alamo had done some work for my friend and they were very pleased with the work. Alamo had also put in a metal fence at St. Pius X Church, where my family attends. I looked over the workmanship of the church fence, then gave Alamo a call. Robert, a customer service representative, set up an appointment with me and my neighbor. He was very professional and courteous. He measured the fence line, and took our questions. My neighbor and I had several additional issues regarding the fence that we wanted addressed. All our questions were answered and work began. Santiago led the two man work team. They very carefully removed the old fence and put in the new one. They began their work on a Monday and were finished Wednesday afternoon, of the same week. We did not want to be in a situation where the job dragged out for weeks. It did not. The fence is beautiful, and extremely well built! Santiago is a real craftsman. He works at a steady pace and double checks to ensure that everything is done right. When finished, the clean up was outstanding. Alamo charges a fair price. I have learned in life that when spending money, the issue is not what something costs, rather did I get good value for the money spent. My neighbor and I got tremendous value for the money we spent on our new fence. I highly recommend Alamo Fence Company, Robert the customer service representative, and Santiago, the lead workman are outstanding. I could not be happier, and my neighbor feels the same wal.

Our project wasn't huge, but important to us. We were finally connecting our house to the wooden privacy fence in our backyard. We liked the idea of wrought iron over wood at the side entrance(s), as it allowed us a view of side flower beds from the back yard. Our point of contact, and company representative, was Rick Eslick. Rick was very professional from our first phone conversation to the in person bid. When we decided on a different style wrought iron fencing, from what was originally bid, Rick was very nice and had the revised bid to us immediately. We chose their 6' tall wrought iron fencing with banana split finials, with a gate, on each side of our house. Although Alamo Fence Company's bid was not the lowest, we felt it was very well priced for the quality of materials and workmanship. With-in a couple of days of accepting the bid we received a call from Rick that work would commence right away. The project was done completed in stages, and each employee/crew that came out were polite, professional and prompt. By August 13th, less than 2 weeks from bid acceptance, our fence was done. We are thrilled with the final product. The fencing is sturdy, and beautifully finished. We couldn't have asked for a more attractive addition to our landscape, and something we will appreciate for many years to come. We would highly recommend Alamo Fence Company of San Antonio. To that end, we plan to work with them again when we replace our existing wood fence.
Description of Work: Complete installation of 6' tall wrought iron fencing and gates, at each side entrance of backyard. Stage 1 - bid and acceptance Stage 2 - detailed work measurement Stage 3 - post installation and set and follow-up measurement and level Stage 4 - fence and gate installation to include finials Stage 5 - electro static application of black paint Stage 6 - follow-up by Alamo Fence Company representative Rick Eslick

The fencing project went well, but the gate started twisting shortly after it was installed but Mike corrected the problem the following day after I reported it. I believe they well above what is expected for customer satisfaction. I would quickly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Mike Liserio provided and estimate to remove old fence and replace it with a new cedar fence. He and his crew began as promised and were on time and very professional in their duties. They worked to take care of one side for the neighbor because she had two dogs and requested the fence not be down over night if possible. They completed the fencing in the promised timeframe and also meeting the wstimated price. They also accomodated the request to make the gate slightly wider than usual to provided room for a riding lawnmower. Mike kept tabs on the work and provided me updates on how it was progressing.

They responded reasonably well in giving me an estimate, but then they went several weeks without a firm start date before actually coming back to do the work. When they did, to my surprise, they had the whole job done in one day - and a quite excellent job as best I can tell. A month or so later, as the soil shifted in the drought, they returned the morning after my call to adjust the gate at no additional charge. They're certainly not the cheapest ones out there, and I would not recommend them in a real emergency - if your fence is actually falling down. But if you can stand the wait, they take the time to understand your needs and explain your options, do a thoroughly professional job quickly (once they start) with excellent clean-up afterwards, and they stand behind their work. I would not hesitate to call on them again.
Description of Work: They replaced two stretches of 6 foot wooden privacy fence. One was about 30 feet on the side of my back yard and included a utility easement panel. The other was about 22 feet across one side of the front yard and included a step up at a railroad tie retaining wall and a lockable gate to the back yard. Both sections used treated pine posts and three rails with 4 inch cedar pickets.
