"Freddy returned all calls & showed up when he said he would. Unlike the 30 or so other companies I called. I would highly recommend Above Grade & Freddy Briseno for any type of landscaping or sprinkler system installation or repair"

"Crag Cobb at Hardwood really did an amazing job trimming a giant tree in my backyard. He shaped this huge tree beautifully. He was very respectful of the property and hauled the branches off instead of putting them in dumpsters in the alley. He picked up the sticks in the yard before he left. I highly recommend this company."

Brush Chipping questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to go too far trimming your bushes or hedges. If you overdo it, you may kill the plant. Stick to trimming about a third of the branches on your bush each season to prevent over-cutting. If your hedge is overgrown and needs a heavy trim, avoid cutting off the main branches that make up the top of the bush.

Using a leaf blower is often the easiest way to pick up leaves. It quickly and efficiently gathers leaves into manageable piles, requiring less physical effort than manual raking. Additionally, you can choose to bag the collected leaves or use a mulching mower to break them down into natural mulch, simplifying the cleanup process further.

The most effective way to remove leaves is to blow them into piles and then bag them. This is faster and more efficient than raking, although it might not be a good idea to use a blower around delicate plants or mulched flower beds. You could leaf blow the bulk of your yard and then rake around garden beds for a quick and easy fall cleanup.

In most cases, it’s better to remove rocks before adding mulch. Layering the two will restrict drainage and plant health, and can create an unpleasant texture underfoot.

While you can leave roots in the ground, if you don’t want the shrub to regrow again over time, it’s best not to leave any roots behind. Ensure you remove as much of the shrub as possible, including the root ball and any main roots you can see, to prevent new growth. Some gardeners opt for using a chemical treatment to prevent the stump from growing back, but this can kill beneficial microorganisms living in your soil.
