"WOW - this was an incredibly good experience!! I wanted a workshop erected for my woodworking hobby. I checked out 4 different companies (including the Big Box stores) before selecting Sheds & More. The biggest factor in selecting these guys was the clear difference in the quality of the materials used - they make building to last!! They also have their own permanent crew - not subbing out the work to whoever they can find for cheap! The price was right in line with the competition but what I got was a lot more: (1) 8 ft interior walls versus 6-7 ft (2) Hardie board siding versus plywood or (this is really bad) OSB. (3) Vapor barrier under the floor, ridge vent, entire exterior wrapped in tar paper VS nothing (or up charge) Carl Russo (one of the owners) came to my home to find out what I wanted and where I thought about putting the building. This basically turned into a free consulting session. When he heard my plans for woodworking tools, he upped the size of the floor joists to handle the additional weight. He also provided some great feedback on where to lay it out in my yard (working around trees!) as well as different sizes that accomplished my end goal for square footage and minimum width. NOTE: They will build any size and shape you want. Almost every other company has either strict sizes (8X10; 8x12) or will only build set widths (8 ft and 12 ft is common) but flexible length. For my lot, the best width was 14 feet - that's far from any standard! Here comes the best part - the actual building going up!! It literally took them 3 days from start to finish including tear down/removal of old shed and painting the new one! No shortcuts in the construction either - just a crew of about 6-7 workers who obviously do this for a living. It was like an army of coordinated ants. Day 1: Old shed gone, new building foundation and walls up (openings for windows & doors framed out) Day 2: Roof rafters and sheathing; windows installed; exterior wrapped and Hardie board on 75% Day 3: Double door installed; remaining siding; shingles; paint (2 coats) and very thorough clean up Note: At the end of day 2 - I decided I also wanted an interior wall built with a door. No problem and the extra cost was extremely reasonable. They still completed it on time too! I have no personal or business affiliation with this company. I just think it's rare when you find a company that does this level of quality work. I hope they continue to be successful!"

"The owner is a master craftsman! He allowed me to tour his woodworking shop and showed me several designs he was working on and pieces he had completed. His specialty is hidden compartments and security in his furniture. In order to standout, he consults with customers on what the goals are for each piece of furniture he makes. "I originally scheduled with them for noon. They called a little before that and asked if we could do it later, so we re-scheduled for that same day at 1:30. Just before 1:30 the handyman called to say he was hung up on a job in town, that he might not be done until 2:30-3:00. I had already done a lot of shuffling around of things in the house to prepare for the work I needed done, so rather than re-scheduling for a different day I waited.



The guy got here at 3:40. He apologized for being so late and assured me that he would stay as long as I needed him. I showed him what I wanted caulked and he started work. He was quite careless with his ladder and caulk gun, and I had to ask him to be more careful not to bang my walls and woodwork. He seemed in a hurry, despite telling me that he'd stay until the work was done, and I felt that that might have affected the quality of his work. I had to re-do the caulk around the base of one of the light fixtures, as he did not completely seal it.



When he was done and it was time to pay, I wanted to use a credit card - website said they accepted them. He said he'd have to call the office so that I could give them the number - but there was no answer at the office. It was about 4:30 on Friday at that point - maybe everyone had left early for happy hour? After repeated rounds of phone tag, I finally was able to give them a credit card number. Even that was unpleasant, as there was a loud, jangling tinny noise coming over the phone from their office.



A few days later, Page called from Best Austin to see how my experience had gone. I told her what I just relayed. She apologized and said they would like to make it right with me. That someone from the office would call back in a few days. But no one has. Why did you bother calling, Page?



Bottom line - I would not use this company again. Maybe they do a great job most of the time and just get swamped when they do these special deals. But if they don't have the office staff to answer the phones, and if they don't have enough service people to do the calls - then they should not offer the specials to begin with.



So my search for a good handyman goes on. Anyone have any suggestions?
