"They did a wonderful job. I had a leaky roof. They replaced singles as needed. Also replaced the plywood and re-roofed my patio roof. They even painted the new plywood on the underside. All their work and materials come with a lifetime warranty. I would definitely recommend them. I plan to have them to replace the rest of my roof when it is time."

"Hands down best roofing experience ever. Michael was very courteous and professional dealing with me and my insurance company. He took care of all dealings with insurance. The roofing team was great too... new roof installed in just over half a day and it looks great. Michael has a great eye for design as well... he encouraged colors and features that look great on my house. Highly recommend SWAT and Michael Q."

I’m a third-generation contractor who grew up around roofing and construction. That background taught me to take pride in doing the job right and treating people fairly. Our work in the Frisco and Dallas–Fort Worth area is built on the same values I was raised with—honesty, quality workmanship, and standing behind what we do.

"Gotcha Covered did a wonderful job on my home. I got a new roof, wood siding, paint whole house on outside, new patio roof, new gutters, replaced windows in front of the house, and much more. They’re now my go-to for all house repairs!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average to install, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the professional you hire, the accessibility of your chimney, the cap's material and size, whether any repairs are needed, and if it requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or copper. Copper caps are the most expensive, followed by stainless steel and then galvanized steel. Excluding labor, average material costs are around $100 for galvanized steel, $250 for stainless steel, and $600 for copper. You may also face additional costs, such as hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before the cap is installed.

Whether or not the terms of your roofing estimate are negotiable depends on the contractor. Some professional roofers will be willing to budge on labor fees to some extent, while others will simply walk away from the potential work rather than lower their fees. In most cases, it’s best not to negotiate the terms, as lower labor charges could lead to your contractor cutting corners. Material costs aren’t negotiable, but you could purchase them yourself to try to save on delivery fees and markups.

While a few icicles on your roof are standard, a large accumulation can be a sign of a bigger problem, such as poor insulation. This is particularly true if you are also dealing with ice dams. If you have numerous large icicles, it is recommended to have a roofing contractor diagnose potential insulation issues and create a plan to solve them.

The most important thing to remember when laying shingles is to work from the bottom of the slope to the top. This leaves you with a top overlap that directs runoff from one row to the next until it reaches the eave for disposal. You should also make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions and the local building code for nailing patterns and frequency so all of your hard work stays put through varying weather conditions.

Rain shouldn’t come in through your ridge vents unless your vents are damaged or the rain is accompanied by very high winds. Most ridge vents use flashing or baffling to keep out rain, snow, and debris. If your ridge vent isn’t baffled, rain is more likely to enter your attic, so ridge vents with baffles are a better choice in areas with regular rainfall.
