"We have pets, so it is very important to us that we only have organic (non-chemical) supplements put on our yard. Earthkind does this for us on a quarterly basis, and does an excellent job! We have the best yard by far on our entire block!"

"Epic Lawn Service evaluated my fixes: removed the 7ft. stump of a 90 year oak tree, filled in the hole and smoothed the earth to match the yard around it, repaired 30 ft. of chain link fence, raked up leaves scattered around the house and on the roof. Epic Lawn finished the job on time and with care. Terrific Team!"

"Carlos and his team cleaned up some of our tree limbs so we could plant and grow grass in our yard. We did not want to sacrifice the beauty of our shade trees but we needed a bit more sunlight to grow grass. They did a great job cleaning up and trimming the trees, we also decided to let them lay the grass and we are pleased with the result."

Small jobs welcome

"Hire Nick for your next yard project. Nick did an excellent job reviewing potential options, delivered a quick quote, then completed our project ahead of schedule. He came back several times to make sure the work was done right. Nick will give you outstanding customer service and you will be pleased with the results. I had Nick trim trees, redo front bushed and resod my front yard, and as a result went from the worst yard on my street to the best! Now I need to get Nick to come back for a back yard project!"

Lawns questions, answered by experts

While a rented dumpster can handle a wide variety of materials, there are significant restrictions on what is allowed. Generally, you can dispose of most non-hazardous household junk, yard waste, and construction debris.

Accepted items typically include:

  • Furniture, carpets, old linens, and toys

  • Wood and yard debris

  • Small appliances and excess trash

  • Renovation waste like old finishes, building debris, and roofing materials (unless they contain lead paint or asbestos)

However, you cannot put toxic, flammable, or hazardous materials in a dumpster. Prohibited items almost always include:

  • Paint, gasoline, oil, and other fuels

  • Household cleaners and other chemicals

  • Electronics, batteries, and tires

  • Refrigerators, hot water tanks, and medical waste

Since regulations can vary by location and company, it is essential to check with your dumpster rental provider for their specific list of accepted and prohibited items before you begin.

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.

How often you should maintain your yard depends on your climate and what season it is. A general rule of thumb is to maintain a lawn height of three inches.

Yes, if your home is poorly maintained and has weeds and overgrowth, it can affect your home appraisal and lower the value. Home buyers want to see a well-kept home, and if yours lacks curb appeal whether inundated by weeds or not, you could be neglecting the potential for it to reach its full value.

Dead trees are dangerous for several reasons. They are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failure, which can pose a significant safety risk to people, vehicles, and nearby structures. Dead trees can also harbor pests like termites, which may spread to other trees or your home. If a tree died from a disease, it could spread the illness to healthy trees. Additionally, the dry wood is highly flammable, increasing fire risk.
