"Anthony, John and Jay were excellent. I was amazed when a crack in my tile (caused from the foundation shifting) came together after the lift! I highly recommend Baird. Everyone you come in contact with are true professionals."

"Lonnie Goodman was very responsive to what we wanted, and our budget. He found a turf product we liked at a close out price, and did an innovative install of a 105 foot long roll, with only 1 small seam. He brought over 12 workers to manually move the entire piece into place where it was then cut and fitted against a rock wall, making our back yard look like a manicured park. Even though there were shipping delays with the freight company, the install began as soon as the turf arrived, and took less than 3 days to finish. A Quality 1 also committed to come back and inspect the turf after it had settled a few weeks and make any required adjustments. Lonnie was good to work with."

"If you ever need a foundation company this is bar none the absolute best. I met with all the local foundation companies with the best reputations - RamJack, Baird, GL Hunt and Olshan. The system FSS uses is not the least expensive, but by far the best. All components are galvanized to include the piping. The competitor's equipment could not even compare with FSS. Just as important, the crew who did the work on my home were absolute professionals in their trade. Andrew, Ricky and Gabe were the best. All of them have years of experience and the foreman, Andrew, has almost two decades of knowledge and hands-on experience, and knowing this eased any concernes I had. Once the fifteen piers were all in place, all piers were connected together via hydraulic hoses and pump. Only then was the house lifted simultaneously - both left and right sides. Initially, one of my major concerns was broken plumbing pipes, as I had read from many of their competitor's poor reviews. Once FSS began to lift the house it was done methodically and slowly, being extra careful to try not to break any pipes. No pipes were broken and my house was lifted an inch on the left front side and two and half inches on the right! FSS exceeded my expectations!!"

"In San Antonio, the east side of the city is fairly well known for foundation issues, so we were surprised when a home on the west we were selling got a hit on the buyer's inspection for possible foundation issues with the pier and beam room that was added onto a 30-year-old single story home. Chris walker took a look at it and said while it's not the way he would have done it, it's clearly stable. In his words, it has attained an equilibrium, which if any modifications were made, would actually undermine the stability of a solid system that is performing well. He arrived on time for his appointment, was professional and knowledgeable. He created a report which we presented to the buyers and they were happy. Most of all, we were impressed with his honesty. Additional note. There is no drainage problem, but this website required me to select a specific project and there's no pier and beam option; only concrete foundation issues."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Brick spalling—which refers to the crumbly, flaky, or pitted appearance that can develop over time—is caused by a few different conditions. These include:

  • Climates with constant freeze-thaw cycles

  • Use of non-breathable sealants

  • High-pressure water cleaning

  • Improper installation

While you can’t do anything about the weather, you can preserve your bricks by cleaning them with soapy water and a good old-fashioned scrubbing. Pressure washers may be satisfying to use, but they can eventually wear away the surface of your bricks. If you don’t have advanced-level DIY skills in masonry, you can hire a reputable masonry contractor in your area for your project.

Brick is the closest choice when seeking to capture the timeless look of stone with a more practical and budget-friendly option. When comparing stone versus brick siding, the price range of $200,000 to $400,000 for average brick home construction is dramatically lower compared to the cost of building a stone home. If you'd like to keep the stone aesthetic without the cost, stone veneer and manufactured stone are both less expensive than real stone.

Whether you’re installing brick siding over a traditionally-framed home or you’re using genuine brick construction to build, the biggest downside of a brick house is the higher cost you’ll pay for the materials and labor. Real brick construction also means your home build will take longer, as it’s more time-consuming to construct brick walls than it is to frame out your home.

Chimney mortar typically lasts 20 to 30 years, depending on its quality, local weather conditions, and maintenance. Over time, exposure to moisture, freezing, and thawing cycles can cause mortar to deteriorate, leading to cracks and gaps. Regular inspections and timely repairs, such as repointing or tuckpointing, can extend the lifespan of chimney mortar by ensuring the structure's integrity.

Initially, brick staining is not cheaper than painting. However, while it has a higher up-front cost, it may be more cost-effective in the long run. Brick stain can last for 20 years or longer, compared to paint, which usually starts to peel away in three to five years.
