"We hired Justin & Jackie to update a home we just purchased. Little did I know the work that was needed to get rid of the popcorn ceilings, get new fixtures put in, paint and patch walls. The wait was worth it! The finished product was: smooth ceilings and a like new house! I was quick to seek Jackie’s opinion when I realized she had a knack for design. What a pleasant experience working with this husband and wife duo. They stand by their work and will grind it out until it’s done and done right!"

"They cleaned up our dead bushes and plants from the freeze which was a huge job. They also took care of all of the debris and even trimmed a limb that had broken. Nice guys, on time, and a delight to work with."

Customers say: Quick response

"Martin and his crew did an exceptional job at a reasonable price. Always here by 8am and left by 4pm. Endured heat and a heavy work load. Patio, walkway, fire pit, seating area and columns. Highly recommended. Would love to post pictures. I handed Martin the picture and he and his crew went well beyond expectations. Very professional. Will have more work in the future for Martin and his team."

"Chris did a fantastic job redoing my back yard. I had overgrown plants and pockets of space that needed more plants. He listened to my needs, gave suggestions about what to remove, and what native plants to grow. I am so happy with the end result."

"Handyman Carpentry came through for me and my family! Our door was kicked in and I needed to feel safe immediately. Mr. Kevin came through with a fast response, and great work. He kept in contact throughout the entire time! Reasonable and fair pricing. This was an emergency for me and Mr. Kevin and his squad came through. We will definitely be calling on him again for more carpentry and home improvement jobs! Thank you and I pray nothing but growth and success for you and your business!!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to transplant trees as tall as 50 feet when an experienced tree planting service uses the right equipment. However, a tree with a trunk larger than two or three inches in diameter needs to be handled by a professional in order to yield successful transplanting results. Consulting a tree planting professional is the best way to tell if your large tree can be safely transplanted.

Water lines are buried at various depths, depending on the type of line. For example, most sprinkler lines are buried between four and 12 inches underground. On the other hand, water mains usually sit between one and 3 feet below ground. However, they can go even deeper in cold climates to prevent freezing.

The cost to repair a crawl space runs between $1,500 and $15,000, depending on the extent of the damage. Major flooding or water repairs can cost up to $10,000 for removal and repairs. If you simply need to clean your crawl space, expect to pay between $2,000 and $6,000 for a major cleanout. Replacing a crawl space beam due to rot or damage can cost between $1,500 and $5,000, while removing and replacing damaged insulation costs between $1,000 and $4,000.

In most areas, you will need a permit for excavation work, even for projects that only involve grading or yard leveling. Permit requirements depend on your local government and the scope of the project, but they are especially common for significant digging or work that could affect utilities or public property. These permits help protect the local topography and prevent drainage issues. An experienced excavation company will typically know whether permits are needed and can often handle the process of pulling and closing them for you. You can also verify permit requirements by contacting your local building department and describing your project.

No, a ditch isn’t a trench. A ditch is an open, relatively shallow channel that’s carved out of the ground and used for drainage purposes. In contrast, a trench is a deeper excavation that’s entirely underground. Trenches have many uses, including gas lines, sewage systems, and electrical wiring. Unlike trenches, ditches don’t get filled back in with dirt after they’re dug.
