"Heart of Stone was the first Company to respond. Jerry has passion for design unmatched in the field of stonework. The quality stands out, perfection in every cut and seam. Heart of Stone installed our kitchen countertop and unique fireplace surround within one week after we decided on the granite. We highly recommended Heart of Stone for any large or small job!"

"These guys were terrific! I had previously hired a man who obviously did not know what he was doing, just made a mess and wasted my time and money but, I called Tile & Grout Solutions and told them I needed help ASAP and they responded right away. Within 5 days they had torn out the mess the previous contractor had made in a week's time and installed a beautiful shower, just what I wanted! And WORK? My goodness those boys work, and fast!"

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts

Acid can seriously damage granite countertops and lead to etching and erosion. This is why cleaning with vinegar isn’t recommended. Other acidic items that you should keep away from your granite countertops include:

  • Citrus

  • Acetone nail polish remover

  • Tomatoes

  • Ammonia

In addition, always steer clear of using bleach on or around your granite as it will degrade the countertop’s sealant quickly.

Onyx countertops are naturally porous, absorbing liquids and staining easily without proper care. Regular sealing every 6 to 12 months is essential to keep them looking their best. Daily maintenance includes wiping up spills immediately and avoiding harsh cleaners or acidic substances that can etch the surface.

Engineered stone is nonporous, unlike natural stone, and does not need to be sealed. You do not have to worry about etching or bacterial growth. It is more durable than natural stone and concrete, as well as highly heat resistant. Engineered stone is easy to clean and maintain. You can wipe it down with warm water and soap. Use a non-scratch scrub pad for stains and avoid any harsh cleaners. Engineered stone can even be eco-friendly, with some manufacturers using waste byproducts or organic resins.

No, soapstone does not crack easily. The softness of the material protects it from cracking but makes it prone to other types of damage such as scratches. Scratches may need to be buffed out occasionally using fine-grit sandpaper. You can also conceal minor scratches in your soapstone countertops by rubbing the surface with mineral oil.

It typically costs $1.25 to $4 per linear foot to repair a granite countertop seam, though the costs will vary depending on whether you do it yourself or hire a pro. The costs will also depend on the extent of the seam and whether your countertops have any additional issues. Granite countertop repairs cost $200 to $1,200, depending on the problem.
