"Oscar installed 4 ceiling fans (3 bedrooms and 1 in a vaulted ceiling in the living room).  He located a short in the wiring in a bedroom that had all the sockets and switches knocked out very quickly.  A switch in the vanity area was also 'mis-wired' and he corrected it.
He kindly offered suggestions for the light fixtures in the vanity area.  I need additional work (lighting) and will absolutely use Oscar again.

"This company is actually fantastic, even though I'm seeking a refund. Their order for the fans was apparently sent to Costco, so they had to wait for another shipment. I was given a call to let me know what had happened, and then they called me again as a follow-up to let me know they were still waiting. After about another month of waiting on my end, I called in to ask about the status. They were absolutely shocked that they had missed me because the shipment had come in and they thought they had taken care of everyone. Unfortunately, the supplier has been bought out in the meantime, so HPC is not able to purchase the fans wholesale from this place anymore, and the new distributor is charging more for the fan than the cost of the Angie's List coupon. HPC said that they'd find a way to get me one, but I cannot do that as it would be at a loss to the company and that is not fair. I am very impressed with this company, and if they do another deal, I'll be all over it."

"Great. The electricians were very professional and easy to work with. They were careful to clean up after themselves. They installed smoke detectors, replaced GFCI outlets, installed recessed lights in the kitchen, installed under counter lights in the kitchen, a ceiling fan in the living room, and bathroom heaters and fans in the bathroom. I would not hesitate to hire them again."

"Even though I was unable to have the lights installed due to the ceiling supports, I think it was a great experience with Upton Electric. He methodically inspected the ceiling before beginning, and when the ideal conditions weren't found, he walked me through the options we had up to the point of offering a refund. I do not believe he was required to do that, so I greatly appreciate him working with me. I would highly recommend him for any electrical needs given his professionalism and his concern to make sure he left a customer happy.

"On July 17, 2012, we suffered the unthinkable; during the height of the summer heat in Dallas, suddenly, and without warning, our
downstairs AC unit stopped blowing cold air. Yes, it?s true!  We actually had to use fans to blow hot air around until we could get
professionals to our home to fix it.
Being a fan and a member of Angie's List, we contacted Mark Masters Service Company to see if he and his team could fix our unit.  We told him that we were in Code Blue and that we needed him stat!  Mark dispatched one of his team members to our home the next day.  The technician was polite, professional, pet friendly, and candid with us.  Believe it or not, the problem was diagnosed and it looked like our unit would be saved for almost pennies as all it required was a new Capacitor switch.  The part was only $25.00. In addition, he cleaned the condenser coils and added Freon R-22 to the upstairs unit.  He also noted that we had a leak on the upstairs unit.  For now, we decided to pay him for his time, labor and parts and count our blessings that
we got off fairly cheap.  What a relief?or so we thought.
Later that day, the downstairs unit stopped blowing cold air and it once again required a call to Mark Masters Service Company.  On July 18, the owner accompanied his team member. They did a thorough investigation and determined that they could fix it
again, but it appeared that the unit was overheating and causing it to burn out the Capacitor switch.  He could not guarantee
that fixing it again would last for a day, a week, a month, or a year.  In fact, he said it could burn out as quickly as the switch they put in the day before. We had a big decision to make, but ultimately, we decided that enough was enough and we must bite the bullet and purchase a new unit. Thus, Mark called it at 3:05 p.m. and our unit was officially pronounced dead.
Mark provided us with three different quotes to select from?a low-end unit, a mid-range unit, and a top-shelf unit.  We went with the mid-range unit.  Mark ordered a new condenser and furnace and on July 24, 2012, he and his team installed a 16-SEER, 4-ton unit from PAYNE, complete with a new line set, new supply and return, new duct work, new thermostat, and a new filter grill.
Another quality that I admired about Mark Masters Service Company is that the owner, Mark Yanez is a very good listener.  He remembered me saying that I hated going in to the attic to change the 20x25x1 filter.  To my surprise, he moved the location of the
filter and grill so that it was now located next to the attic door. Not only would it be easier to change the filter, but I would never have to enter the attic again. That was a big plus for me and it scored major points for Mark.  In addition, the new ducts would remain untouched by our hands or feet as we would no longer have to step foot in the attic, thus preserving their fine craftsmanship.
Mark and his team spent the entire day installing the unit. They had a ton of work?four (4) tons to be exact, but they paid attention to each and every detail.  They even came back the following day to do see how the unit was working. Then they double checked their work and ensured that they left our home looking as clean as it did before they began their work. There was so much debris
from them removing the old unit and installing new ducts that they returned later that evening, with a truck, to haul off the debris.  They were concerned that it would be an eyesore for us and our neighbors as we waited for the city to pick up big trash
on our scheduled day.
Again, it was their attention to not only the big things, but all of the little things that impressed us. We were extremely satisfied with the quality of their work.  Also, we have three large dogs that we kept in one room so they would be out of the way of the workers.  Occasionally we would have to ask the workers to stop what they were doing so that we could close the outside doors and let our dogs into the dog run for them to "do their business" and stretch their legs. Mark and his team were most accommodating.
Not only was our customer experience with Mark Masters Service Company a memorable one, but we will definitely call on their services in the future.  In addition, I have their number on speed dial.  If anyone I know needs a recommendation for a great company that stands by their products and service, I will tell them to look no further.
One of the benefits that we received from having a new AC unit installed is the fact that our electric bills have dropped by as much as 28% and we have not changed our usage at all. If we would have known that we would have saved money on top of everything else, we would have had a new unit installed years ago.
We now realize that while our consumption of energy is higher than most, the reason for such high bills can mostly be attributed to the fact that our old unit had to work so hard.  If this trend continues and our bills continue to show a significant savings, we?ll have made up the cost of the new unit within two years.
Keep up the great work Mark Masters Service Company.  Remember, there are hundreds of contractors out there that do what you do, but they don't all do it with the same respect and care for their customers like you do.

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.

The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.

Fans not turning on, wobbling, noisy motors, or faulty remote controls are common issues requiring repair.
