"Our remodel with Patriot Construction went exceptionally well. Paul and his crew are excellent at what they do and we continue to use them as projects come up. This was our third remodel and the best one by far. Paul is honest, fair, punctual and has a great and talented crew. Finding a good contractor can be a long and frustrating process. After our first several meetings with Paul, we knew he was the right fit. He had great ideas for our remodel, was priced fairly and was very straightforward and honest in what was/wasn’t possible with our budget. He’s very communicative which really helps minimize any surprises or misunderstandings. The work he and his crew did was/is top notch and we love our new house. We will continue using and recommending Patriot Construction as long as we live in the Austin area. Thanks for the great work!!"
An idea of how you can turn a vaulted ceiling into a cool and useable space.
This used to be a dark and dirty attic. Conversions like this can be a great way to add square footage. With structural changes being one of our strengths, we can show you how to maximize your
space.
Lighting can transform any space into something magical.
Why be normal? Wall tile and a hexagonal stain glass window created an awesome mood for this homeowner.
Herringbone mosaic is very time consuming, but the results are worth it.

"I was so excited with the work Unique Remodeling did for me. I had been trying for nearly a year to get a remote controlled electric attic ladder installed. Most I talked to had no idea they existed. I company never even started it even after collecting my deposit. When Albert responded to an online inquiry, I was so impressed with his professionalism & enthusiasm, Albert kept me informed of every aspect of the install. He is highly skilled & knowledgeable. What he’s unfamiliar with, he thoroughly researches. High quality, reliable, aesthetically pleasing work. I also needed grab bars installed in both of bathrooms. I asked Albert if he could install. Again friendly, professional, quality, prompt workmanship. In all that he does, I witnessed a high level of attention to detail and efficiency in completing the jobs with minimal disruption. Albert did an admirable job cleaning everything up and removing all debris. I highly recommend Unique Remodeling & Floor Design!"

"We recently worked with Marc on a significant update to our home, including replacing our tile flooring with vinyl plank, repainting our cabinets, replacing our backsplash, adding under cabinet lighting, and installing a pot filler. From the start, Marc distinguished himself with his meticulous attention to detail, particularly in his cost estimates, which were accurate and transparent. What stood out to us the most was Marc’s ability to formulate a clear plan and execute it on schedule, without any unexpected delays or issues, despite us adding new things throughout the process. His organizational skills and dedication to timely completion were evident throughout the project, making the entire process smooth and stress-free for us as homeowners. Additionally, Marc’s craftsmanship and commitment to quality were evident in every aspect of the work done. He went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was addressed, resulting in a flawless finish that exceeded our expectations."

"We hired Superior General Contracting company for our kitchen project, and we would highly recommend them. This is the second time we?ve worked with them because they are so reliable and consistent. They were there for us from start to finish. Skyler stayed on top of everything throughout the kitchen renovation and supervised the work closely. Skyler and Flynt maintained constant communication with us, which made the entire process smooth and stress-free. They made what could have been a difficult project feel easy and well-managed. Also Their crew did an amazing job. Definitely, this is a company that I would highly recommend to anyone needing a home project done?no matter how big or small."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.

Building up by adding square footage to the top of your home is often less expensive than adding a basement, but it depends on the specifics of your house, your property, and supply costs. Because building a basement requires excavation, it can be a more expensive option than building up.

Finishing a basement can provide a great return on investment, by increasing the market price of your home when you want to sell. Beyond that, there are many reasons to finish your basement. Doing so expands the usable square footage of your home, so you can enjoy it more, even as your family grows. Renovating your basement costs less in terms of time, energy, and money than having to search for and buy a new home.

Yes, in most cases, finishing a basement is worth the cost. The project adds valuable, usable square footage to your home and typically provides a return on investment (ROI) of 70% to 75%. For example, an average basement refinishing project costing $32,000 could add between $22,400 and $24,000 to your property's value. The final value added depends on factors like your location, the quality of materials and workmanship, and the features you include, such as a living space, bedroom, or bathroom. To be officially counted in your home's total square footage, the finished space must comply with all local building codes, including requirements for points of egress. However, in areas prone to flooding, a finished basement might be seen as a liability by potential buyers and could potentially decrease your home's value.

Kitchens and bathrooms are typically the most expensive rooms to renovate. The high cost is due to several factors, including expensive appliances like ranges, hoods, and refrigerators, as well as costly fixtures. The 'bones' of the room, such as electrical and plumbing, are also expensive to move or replace. Because of the vast amount of prep work, finishing, and specialized labor involved in a relatively small footprint, these projects can cost double or more than a living space remodel. Even when trying to renovate on a budget, kitchens and bathrooms will likely carry a hefty price tag.
