"Their work was fabulous. They cleaned up behind themselves every day before leaving. They were hard working even in the heat! But the best thing is they listened to what I said and made suggestions that helped me see what my deck would look like. Just the best people ever! I will be using them again!"

"When we were notified by our insurance company they were cancelling our homeowners insurance policy because of the condition of our roof, we were shocked. Not knowing any roofers in Texas, we called our daughter, who designed and contracted her own house, if she could recommend a good local roofer who we could afford. Without hesitating, she replied: "call Bayfront Roofing and talk to Sam." We called Bayfront, talked to a delightful woman named Sam, and the rest is history. Their work from the time they started until completion, was performed fast, professionally, and they cleaned up all debris every night during removal of the old roof until the new roof was completely installed. As a retired Quality Assurance Auditor and Manager, I can vouch for their management of the entire project, from the delivery of materials, quality of workmanship, and attention to detail that Bayfront workers exhibited in their workmanship. If a problem was noted, it was immediately corrected. In short, Bayfront delivered on specifications, materials, and finished product of a beautiful new roof and we are now reinstated with coverage by our insurance company. We would unhesitatingly recommend Bayfront Roofers to anyone who needs a new roof! Besides that, they are great people to deal with!! Estyn and Myrna G"

Siding questions, answered by experts

While bleach can be effective in killing mold, it may not fully remove mold stains from siding. Additionally, bleach can be harsh and may damage certain types of siding. It's recommended to use specialized mold cleaners or natural alternatives that are safe for your specific siding material as a part of your regular siding maintenance

Not wrapping a house before installing siding can lead to moisture intrusion, rot, mold, and even higher energy bills. Older houses may have siding installed without wrap underneath, so it’s a good idea to add a wrap layer when it comes time to replace old siding to prevent potential damage from water intrusion—local codes may even require it, so check with your municipal building authority.

Mildew grows into porous wood, making it more difficult to remove than regular dirt (and more destructive). We suggest using a dedicated mildew and mold fungicide to remove mildew, which is found in any local home improvement store. Apply a dose of the fungicide to the siding and leave to work according to the instructions, usually for an hour or two. Then wash it thoroughly away and scrub the spot again. Repeat the process if necessary. If nothing is removing the mildew stains, you should plan on removing those clapboard planks in time, as their damage could cause future problems.

Composite siding has excellent insulative properties and one of the highest R-values of siding materials available. Its R-value is 2 to 4; compare that to vinyl, wood, and fiber cement—all of which have R-values under 1. You can boost your siding’s R-value by installing a layer of foam insulation.

Vinyl log siding is durable, rot-resistant, colorfast, and scratch-resistant, and it can last for an average of around 30 years. Some vinyl siding can last for up to 60 years with proper maintenance. You won’t need to repaint or restain this type of siding every several years like you would with wood, so ongoing costs and upkeep will be minimal. Although it’s relatively low maintenance, you should still wash your vinyl log siding twice per year. Doing so will increase its longevity, remove any mold, and retain your home’s curb appeal.
