"They did a great job! It went faster than I expected. I asked one of the guys if he had time, would he check a leak under my kitchen sink. He was very thorough. It turns out that we had a bolt still attached underneath the sink from a previous water filter installation. We needed a different type of bolt and he switched the bolts for free! He even gave me some much needed advice to help prevent further leaks from the faucet area. I really appreciated the extra mile! I am very pleased with Lone Star Water Services and would gladly recommend them to others."

"I had a good experience with them. The shut-off valve drove the cost up. It probably ended up being about $500 but I added a shut-off valve that was not part of the problem. He was friendly and honest, I believe. I think the cost was fair. It was a fair amount of money but it was a lot of work too."

"I called Young's plumbing because when I woke up that morning I had a huge puddle of water in my living room. The gentleman that answered the phone said that he could a plumber out the same day. When Jimmy showed up he explained that I had a slab leak and gave me a quote for tunneling and to repair the leak.Jimmy helped me call my insurance company to have them pay for it. I set up for the work to be done the next day. Jimmy and some diggers come out the next morning and got right to work. He was very professional and answered any questions I had. He cleaned up his mess and made sure my yard was the way they found it. I was grateful that they use booties when in my house so they did not take mud and stuff throughout my house. Thank you very much Young's Plumbing, I will be using them anytime I have plumbing problems.

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

Start by calling a plumber if you want to install a sump pump battery backup. Talk to them about your situation and needs. Sometimes, electricians or waterproofing contractors will install a battery backup, and in that case, the plumber you call should be able to point you in the right direction.

Test regularly, clean the pump, and inspect the discharge line to ensure efficient operation.

You shouldn’t shower while a sump pump isn’t working. Although household wastewater isn’t supposed to go into the sump pit, it’s best to wait to shower until your sump pump is running properly and able to move excess water out of the basement. If you need to shower when the sump pump isn’t working, aim for a short shower.
