"My good friend was offshore onboard a research vessel conducting oceanographic research. He received word from his HOA that his water hadbeen turned off due to a large leak outside his house. He contacted me to see about getting it repaired and having his water turned on. I called Action Plumbing and not only did they promptly schedule an appointment, but were happy to work with me on my friend's behalf. They even agreed to bill my friend and have him submit payment upon his return. Great job Action Plumbing!

"Andrew was great. We bought an older home with a conventional tank that hadn't been maintained in a very long time. He came out within a few hours of calling him on Christmas Eve-Eve.. His price was competitive, he was very knowledgeable and even humored my teens and explained everything as they stood over him watching the process (we've never had a septic tank before!). Have already recommended to neighbors."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No, you typically cannot use metal detectors to find your sewer line. Most sewer lines are made of non-metallic materials such as PVC, clay, or cast iron, which are not detectable by standard metal detectors. Metal detectors are designed to locate metallic objects, so they won't be effective for identifying the path of a non-metallic sewer line. To locate your sewer line accurately, it's best to use other methods.

While some chemical drain cleaners with hydrochloric acid can dissolve hair, this method is not recommended as it can also destroy your plumbing pipes. A common DIY alternative is using baking soda and vinegar, which can help break down the clog but will not actually dissolve the hair. The best and safest method for clearing a hair clog is to remove it manually. You can use a drain snake, a straightened wire hanger with pliers to fish out the clog, or have a plumber use a professional auger for more severe blockages.

Schedule regular inspections, fix minor issues promptly, and ensure proper drainage.

It is safe to flush small amounts of bleach down the toilet. Don’t flush more than ¼ cup of bleach. Instead, consider diluting it and pouring it down the sink drain.

If you’re not using a septic system, problems with your home’s plumbing won’t cause this—it’s a city problem. A large blockage in the municipal sewage lines may cause those lines to back up into your home. This is extremely unpleasant and can be a serious health risk due to bacteria and other contaminants. If this occurs, call a pro (or your city) immediately.
