"We spent 14K on two new AC units for our house in 2021. We had to get the technicians out almost every year and multiples a year because something is always wrong. Some technicians were not experienced enough to diagnose the problem and wasted hours at our house. They also made careless mistakes (not connecting the draining pipe back in the attack) in Aug 2025. We had to run very loud fans for 5 days just to dry the water leak from the attic to our ceiling. The same technician was sent out in Nov 2025 and made the same mistake again. Now our ceiling is leaking again. The customer service did not even acknowledge or apologize for what we are going through. I am now worried that repeated leak may have caused permanent damage to our house. I do not recommend this company."

It has now been several weeks since this work was completed: all of the newly installed plumbing fixtures are working well, and there are no leaks or drips. "We have used Bluebonnet since 2003. Over the years they have replaced 2 water heaters and handled all of our plumbing needs inside and out. The latest service was to repair a leaky toilet, replace a water filter behind our refrigerator and spot check our other toilets and both water heaters. The repairs were not totally successful on the toilet and Lee came out a second time to try one more thing before we will need to replace it entirely. If and when that happens we will not hesitate to have Bluebonnet do the installation. Lee and Frank have always done excellent work and we would recommend them for anyone's plumbing needs."

The chemicals in a water softener can wear down the anode rod in the heater and shorten its life span. However, for most people, the benefits of the softener outweigh this potential drawback.

Have a plumber inspect the anode rod annually for damage, as replacing the anode rod is far less expensive than replacing the entire water heater.

Water heater installation code requirements are in place to keep your family and home safe. Water heaters that are installed wrong can simply not work. However, that's an, if you're lucky, type of situation. More commonly, incorrectly installed water heaters pose a real threat from carbon monoxide poisoning, gas leaks, water leaks, and even explosions. 

Any item that can hold on to moisture and encourage mold growth should be discarded and replaced following water damage. Upholstered items, such as armchairs and couches, and soft items, such as mattresses, usually must be thrown away once they've taken on a lot of water. Soft furniture is difficult to dry out, creating an inviting environment for mold.

You may also need to replace hardwood furniture following water damage if you're unable to fully dry it out. If you have appliances and electronics that have been fully submerged in water, particularly sewage, you'll need to replace those, too.

A larger heater requires a larger breaker—unless there’s one already installed. The longer answer to this question is more nuanced. Do you place demands on the heater at the same time as running other heavy-duty appliances like ovens and washing machines? Do you live in an older home that may not have considered the higher electrical demands we have now? Breakers need to be sized at 125% of the load.
