However, I decided to go with a larger company, simply because I feel more secure with the (perceived) stability of a more established business, especially since I am not handy and would definitely need help if anything goes wrong in the years to come. They also had to come back a couple times to replace a broken latch and fix a caulking issue, and were fast to do so."

"Darrell showed up fairly soon after I requested and we agreed to the next day, if it didn't rain. It did lightly rain in the morning, and I thought possibly he might come in the afternoon. He didn't, so after no contact from him I asked and he said Thursday; I responded OK, even though it was Thanksgiving day. He later said Saturday after he failed to come at the hour he set. I said OK. He came but did not bring a large enough piece of OSB to enclose my window opening. He pieced it together nicely though. The brickwork was well done. He cleaned up. The receipt he gave was his name, address and phone number with a vague description of the work, a little unprofessional to me."

"1) door is fixed, without removing and planing which might have required repainting or refinishing the door.  Amazingly, the corrections to the placement of the doorframe pieces aren't even noticeable and no painting or touchup was required.
2) all installations are working properly.  The installer was very fast, too.

There was no discrepancy between what the estimator (Ryan) promised and what the leveling crew (David, Christian, and Blake) said they could do (and what they did) to re-level my concrete pad. "Bruce repaired our back door with amazing precision! It was an awkward metal door that was installed by a prior rehab contractor (over a year ago) from standard to wheelchair width door. The door was never flush or mounted correctly. As time went by, the door became unusable. Bruce tackled the challenge with ease and made the door fit snug, smooth & with a solid feel. For a little extra, he also installed a new storm door we purchased to the same back door. Even though he ran out of time on the first day, he returned the next day and cheerfully finished up and made sure that I was totally comfortable with the feel and sturdiness of the doors. He also suggested an additional safety lock which he picked up and installed that as well for both front & back doors. Once we get our foundation in order, if we have any other issues with any of our doors, we will be calling Bruce for estimates for those adjustments. Pilot Point is fairly far from most decent, reliable contractors. I can't tell you how many flaky guys are around who don't know their craft! Bruce made a difference in the quality of our lives; literally. I take care of my disabled hubby; unable to do even the simple things due to energy or time restraints. Our back door was taken from a 32" to 36" by a contractor we used a year ago. It was never installed correctly and was incomplete. It finally stopped working. Bruce gave a quote for the repair & re-installation, as well as for another nominal fee, to put in a new storm door. When he was done, our door finally fit properly and we now have a beautiful storm door bonus! There are no gaps; it is airtight, snug and easy to open & close. He pointed out where the other contractor missed some points, and showed what needed to be done & why. He was very patient. He did not rush, and actually came the next day to complete it to the level he wanted it to be. All of the "T's" were crossed and "I's" dotted, from what we saw when he was finished. Noting my hubby's handicapped status, Bruce also came up with suggestions of improving & smoothing over transition over the threshold. He adjusted the ramp from outside to fit the new door threshold location, and made helpful suggestions for the transition portion inside the house. He also noted additional safety measure we could install at our door lock area, and we asked that he put it in place, and he did so. Thanks, Bruce! It took a long time to find someone who knows what he is doing. We highly recommend Bruce for those jobs that seem overwhelming, but are very important to you, and they just have to be done. Bruce is the exception, as he knows what he is doing, and he does it very well. You may find his quote a bit high, but he does deliver quality craftsmanship, you get your money's worth and you will not be disappointed!
