"Choosing Statewide was a no-brainer. They had the highest quality windows at the lowest price, best guarantee, and fastest timeline. They were also able to customize the color of our front windows to match our trim. There was a delay in our screen door from the manufacturer, and Marc willingly took my phone calls every week to make sure we didn’t get forgotten. They also had to come back a couple times to replace a broken latch and fix a caulking issue, and were fast to do so."

"Called for free estimate and Alex responded. He gave me the options for repair and did not pressure me into a decuson. He let me make the choice. The communication was excellent. A crew of 8 showed up and worked all day completing the project. They were polite and cleaned up after the job was completed. I checked around and found their estimates to be the best with about the same guarantees. This was a very pleasant experience. Now my doors don't gap and close nicely. Thanks Groundworks."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Drafts, condensation between panes, difficulty operating, or visible frames or glass damage are signs of needed repairs.

Installing a basement window generally takes a few hours, assuming there are no structural issues you need to resolve first. If you’re a novice DIYer, the project could take longer; on the flip side, a licensed and trained window contractor may be able to replace multiple basement windows in the time it takes a homeowner to replace one.

No, but removing window screens will achieve a deeper clean. If you aren’t sure how to remove your screens, you can still clean them while in your window. You can follow the same cleaning steps, but you may not be able to get into corners or struggle to clean the entire screen if the window is up high.

While the benefits of garage door screens usually outweigh the downsides, there are some cons to installing one. First off, they can be quite expensive, especially if you’re having a professional install a retracting screen or a custom size screen. Second, they let fresh air and natural light in, but they also don’t provide the same privacy from people in the neighborhood that a solid door does. As you might guess, screens also won’t insulate your garage, so they’re often not usable in colder weather.

The screen material you choose depends on your needs. Here are some differences to consider:

  • Fiberglass is the least expensive but needs replacing more often.

  • Aluminum suits almost any job and doesn’t stretch as easily as fiberglass.

  • Pet-resistant screens are more expensive than fiberglass or aluminum, but they’re also wind and weather-resistant.

  • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.
