About us

We are a 3rd generation family-owned heating and air conditioning company, offering 24-hour EMERGENCY service. We have a showroom for our customers (and our not-yet customers) to be able to come by and see the equipment and accessories that we offer, and how they operate. With 35+ years of experience in the field, we operate locally in the greater McKinney, TX / Collin County area, serving our customers and their friends and family. David has been trained and certified in all areas of HVAC, including brands such as Trane, Carrier, and Lennox to name a few. David holds all licenses and certifications required, including all state HVAC licenses, required to operate in the state of Texas. Qualified and experienced in all brands of equipment, we take care of any heating and/or air conditioning issues. A/C Works is licensed and insured, carrying far above the minimum requirements necessary and required by law. Our goal is to keep our work environment as clean and as safe as possible, taking every precaution to make sure your home is left better than it was when we arrived. Our customers are our biggest fans, complimenting our work ethics and practices daily. Payment for services is expected at the time of delivery unless prior arrangements have been made with the finance office. We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. We also provide financing through Wells Fargo Retail Financing and GreenSky as a convenience to our customers. We're a small company, but you always know who is answering the phone when you call, and who is coming to your house when you need us. If you want to hear lies and sales pitches, this is the company for you! Ask for Jason cause he is full of them! Jason arrived and within five minutes (before he started trying to diagnose anything) he tells me our AC unit is too small to cover the square footage of our home. I asked him how many square feet our unit can cover and he proceeds to tell me not even 1600 sqft. Our unit is 3.5 tons (which covers 1800 to 2100 sqft). After I educated him on the spot and told him that was not an option I should’ve dismissed him right then and there but being desperate for cool air, I proceeded to let him diagnose my issue. Jason proceeds to tell me my TX valve is indicating a blockage and needs replaced along with the dryer outside. I told him OK and said the parts are covered under warranty. He then tells me “no my warranty is void because somebody marked through my a coil serial number with a permanent marker”. (Our home is new, we’re the only owners of the home, and we’ve never had our AC unit looked at. No way somebody marked through the serial number with a permanent marker unless it was him.) I tell him to send me a bid and I pay over $157 for the service call/hour to diagnose. I immediately called another company out who arrived that evening. The diagnosis was the same. However, the other company tells me my parts are covered under warranty. A/C works bid: $1,456.08 (TX value $619 and drier $113) plus labor and refrigerant-which was needed. Had we proceeded with A/C works we would have paid them $1,613.92 total (first call plus repair call). I paid $157.84 to be fed a bunch of crap sales pitches and lies from Jason.

David Crawley is a class act and then some…A man of character plus 38yrs xp. my a/c unit is super old, he’s done service multiple times and i’m sure it’s a lot of ppl would sell me on replacing but he keeps it fair and honest.

I was not home at the time of service, so was unaware that my system had completely iced over. These guys stayed and thawed out my system which I know took some time, and they didn't even charge me for the extra time. My only contact was over the phone, but I am very pleased with their service and fair price, especially since my unit was very low on refrigerant. AC has been performing great since their visit.

Disappointed to provide this review as I have had favorable experiences with this vendor in the past. In fact, I would have used this vendor to replace our existing equipment ($8k+ expense) had the vendor diagnosed the problem accurately. His misdiagnosis cost me an additional $500 - to which no refund was offered for his error in judgement: We contacted the vendor to review an a/c unit that was running, but not blowing cold air. Vendor diagnosed a small leak in freon and recommended adding freon (at a cost of almost $500) to get me through the summer. The next day we contacted vendor informing him that the $500 that we paid did not fix the problem. Vendor came out a couple of days later and informed us that we would need to purchase a new unit. I understand that the unit was beyond repair. I am disappointed that the vendor's misdiagnosis cost me $500. I hired the vendor to provide an accurate diagnosis of the issue and provide me with viable solutions. His error cost me $500 in addition to the new unit I ended up purchasing from a different vendor ($8k+). I have no issue with the fact that I had to purchase the new unit - it was at the end of its lifecycle. I had an issue with the vendor's oops that cost me an additional $500.

My only complaint about the unit is that they are a little loud. They work find. I wish they were a little quieter. They are right outside of the wall in our office. You can hear them when they kick on and when they are running. It is not a Trane unit. It's a Heil unit. They are not terrible. It's just if I had my wish it would be a little quieter.

My A/C Works is a very trustworthy company. I've been using them for close to 10 years now and I have absolute faith that they will not do unnecessary work. My first encounter with David was when I called him to get a quote because one of the big HVAC companies that advertise on radio and had been servicing our units for 3 years told me that we needed new units (we have 2). I got a separate quote from a friend's friend which was way lower that the 1st estimate and so we scheduled the work. Right after, another friend suggested I ask David also. He checked out our units and rather than give me an estimate, he replaced the capacitors with larger ones. He said smaller capacitors (less capacity than what were called for by the manufacturer of our units) we being used causing them to fail every season. Our units lasted another 6 years after that and David replaced on unit last year and another unit just last month. Recommended My A/C Works to a co-worker who had a similar excellent experience.

David is prompt, courteous, clean and considerate in his work. He proactively replaced the new condenser when he noticed that it was too noisy. His prices was very fair and quite lower than the larger company's estimate that we got.
