"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Service – Highly Recommend! We recently had our water heater replaced by Northwest Plumbing, Heating & AC, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. They showed up when promised, explained everything clearly, and completed the installation efficiently and professionally. The workmanship was excellent, they kept everything clean, and made sure the new water heater was working properly before they left. It’s refreshing to work with a local company that takes pride in its work and genuinely cares about taking care of its customers. If you need plumbing work or a water heater replaced, I would absolutely recommend Northwest Plumbing, Heating & AC. Five-star service all the way!"

"My water heater was not making hot water. Steven came promptly and on time. He had the experience and skills to quickly diagnose and proactively treat the problem and prevent a recurrence. He was patient with my hovering around and asking questions and even offered helpful information when he sensed I was curious. He completed the job professionally and efficiently and economically as possible and advisable. I couldn't be more pleased with his work."

"A little high priced for a toilet repair. The stopper was not fitting on the seal when you flushed causing it to run constantly. $395 was a pretty high in my opinion for a $20 toilet kit. We should have done that ourselves. Water Heater did have problems and we were happy to get a new one and have installed. There again, paid a high price for water heater."

Water Heaters FAQs, answered by experts

Depending on the brand of water heater, you may need to install an expansion tank in order to meet the conditions for warranty coverage. It’s important for consumers to read the fine print of the warranty to see if an expansion tank is necessary. Even if an expansion tank isn’t required for the warranty, it’s usually mandated by building codes—although not for tankless water heaters.

Venting a gas water heater out of the roof is preferable in most cases. Heated exhaust gases naturally rise, so a vertical vent pipe is efficient. If you’re trying to vent through a pipe exiting a wall, the angle of the pipe may be more horizontal than vertical, making the venting system less effective. If you go through a wall, you may need to add a fan to ensure a successful expulsion of the gases outdoors.

If your system is not vented properly, you could experience what’s called backdrafting. Backdrafting is when your ventilation system isn’t working as it should, and instead of releasing gases outside, they get trapped inside your home.

Gas and propane water heaters create a few types of combustion gases, but the most dangerous is carbon monoxide. If there’s too much build-up of these gases inside your home, it can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Excessive pressure (above 80 psi) puts too much stress on plumbing pipes, joints, and fixtures. This can lead to leaks and burst pipes. Plus, it shortens the lifespan of appliances, can waste water, and can raise your utility bills. High water pressure might feel like a gift, but it’s actually a silent threat to plumbing.

It takes between one and three hours to replace a hot water heater element, depending on whether you hire a pro or do the work yourself. For example, a professional plumber with all the necessary tools and experience can often finish the job in one to two hours, whereas DIY will take two to three hours because it'll involve more preparation and troubleshooting.
