"They were prompt - they showed up when they said they would. They were professional in their work. They knew what they were doing - they stayed with the job until it was done - they didn't go to another job while working on mine. They even took their shoes off when they came into the house to keep from messing up the floor. Best of all they did a great job on my house. It looks great, and they were careful not to do any damage to the structure when they leveled it. And also they cleaned up all the trash when they left. That was a feat in itself considering all the digging they had to do. I am very please with their work."

Customers say: Terrific value

"After interviewing multiple builders, we chose Hills of Texas Homes, Fredericksburg, TX to build our custom home. Todd Stevens, President, is a mechanical engineer and designs and draws the house plans. He also includes interior designer services for selecting the colors, flooring, lightning, fixtures, etc. Todd works with a small group of well-seasoned and highly professional subcontractors. It was our first time building a custom home and, although we knew what we wanted, there were just so many considerations and decisions to make throughout the process. Todd has so much experience in knowing what works aesthetically and structurally. His guidance was invaluable. Todd was very responsive during the building process (took about 14 months) and, after he was fully paid, Todd continued to be responsive including addressing some issues that arose after we moved into the house. These were normal type items that arise after you have been living in a new home for a while. Todd has a lot of patience (answering all our questions) and a great sense of humor. We are very happy with our beautiful new home and we are nearing 10 months."

"First Choice House Leveling were absolutely wonderful to work with!! Super flexible with my schedule..I called them after hours (after calling several other companies who did not answer or told me to call tomorrow because it was late) and they offered to come and take a look at my home that evening!! I hired them in February. They offered me a fair price for quality work. They were also very friendly and honest. They gave me options and pointed out things to me that I hadn’t even thought of. They respected my home and were always on time. From start to finish it was a great experience. I highly recommend them to my neighbors and everyone I know."

Customers say: Quality work

"My deck is not quite done, but Lynn has been here every day working through wet and miserable weather when necessary. The deck project so far looks very good and we are excited to see the finished product. I would like to post pictures when my project is completed, so please send this inquiry again. Lynn is very easy to work with and his assistant is also very nice, hard working, careful and thorough, as is Lynn. We are planning to use Lynn's services for a master bath remodel later this year! Update: Our deck is still a work in progress, but is coming along nicely. The cedar that Lynn suggested is beautiful, I can't wait to see what it looks like after it's stained. I have had more time to evaluate Lynn's work and I have to say he is a man with an eye and talent for exact and perfection. I watched him, Colton and Jim work when they didn't realize they were being watched. There is nothing I appreciate more than a team of people who are masters at what they do. Colton is still learning, but it is not hard to see he is a willing student. Lynn obviously has a gift, I'm glad it's being translated to my project!"

"We had an issue with the foundation of our home moving. Due to the freeze of 2021 and the rains that followed the soil between the homeâ s foundation beams and the bed rock began to shift. We noticed cracks in our ceiling and the garage floor. We contacted various contractors but quickly settled with Hercules Foundation. Allen Alexander of Hercules Foundation came to our house, measured the distances from level, assessed the damage and proposed the work needed to be performed and the timing. Hercules Foundation would be responsible for all permits required and obtain markings of the utility lines and finally the inspection and approval of the City Engineers. The price quoted was competitive. The work comes with a Life Time Warranty and is transferrable in the event we would sell our home. The work compromised included installing 18 piers, around the areas of the house that required leveling, the digging of the holes, removal of river rock and flagstone in parts of the back yard. The time quoted for completion was three (3) days. Considering the amount of work required I found this to be somewhat optimistic. The team that completed the work was managed by Michael Sanchez. I have rarely experienced a team that was so professional, safety consciousness, patient with our constant questioning, punctual, trust in each other and the work they were doing, and the way they performed the work as a team. It is a team that is loyal to each our and Hercules Foundation. Michael Sanchezâ s son is being deployed to The Ukraine. God bless him and all US Service men and women. When reviewing the work performed another amazing observation was that it looked clean and as if nothing was done."

"Old school was easy to work with an helped me design my forever home, I was walked through all the plans in detail. They understood what I wanted and that was huge for me. They were very good with communication, solid craftsmanship, and were extremely efficient with their time. I’ve got a one off custom kitchen with beautiful trim everywhere in my house. 3bed 2bath in the middle of winter, not easy. Thank you to everybody at Old School you’ve brought my dream house to reality."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

House Leveling questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can mudjack cracked concrete, but the cracks will need to be repaired once the concrete has been leveled. If the concrete is severely cracked in multiple places, replacement may be a better option, but for less severe cracking, mudjacking is a good solution as long as cracks are correctly caulked and sealed.

Costs range from $500 to $1,500, depending on the size and condition of the area.

Mudjacking can be an expensive foundation repair process, but in many cases, it’s well worth the investment. This is especially true if you’re lifting a portion of sunken foundation slab back into place. In that case, mudjacking can help avoid major structural damage and even home collapse by restoring the integrity of your structure with minimally invasive procedures. Mudjacking a concrete patio, walkway, or sidewalk can be worthwhile because it removes tripping hazards and makes your outdoor area more aesthetically appealing.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Generally speaking, push piers—or steel piers—are the best option for underpinning, as they reach down to solid bedrock to find support for your foundation rather than relying on soil, which could be subject to the same issues as the soil directly below your foundation. However, the best underpinning method for your home depends on your location, how far down the bedrock is, and the type of soil in your area. Helical piers are usually the best option for sandy soil or in areas where the bedrock is too deep to use steel piers.
