"Were prompt, courteous, and completed the installation efficiently. I have pull down stairs to the attic which make getting the water heater in and out more difficult but they did it effectively."

"Rob and his team are truly amazing! They came in and efficiently installed a root block in our backyard on a Thursday. The following Tuesday they returned and installed a drainage system for our backyard with three catch basins and run off into the street. In the front yard they cut the grass into sod pieces before digging the trench and when finished replaced the grass making it almost imperceptible that they had done the job. Rob is an encyclopedia of information about trees and landscaping and he is always willing to share what he knows. I highly, highly recommend hiring him and his team (some of whom have been with him 16 years) He is honest, knowledgeable, and very fairly priced!"

"They were very helpful and explained a lot about my garbage disposal. They found that it was a wiring issue and nothing that I had done. I learned a lot about my garbage disposal when he came over and very helpful and very informative."

"Gary was excellent. He is professional and full of helpful ideas and suggestions, including cost saving ones! Our attic flooring looks amazing. He also replaced ceiling fans and outlets, installed a fountain and replaced a lot of rotted window trim. I highly recommend Gary!"

"I think it’s too much to ask of anyone to have a perfect project in a 30 year old house that has had foundation work in the past. That’s impossible when it comes to remodeling an older home. But Solid Stone Manufacturing handled it as perfect as anyone could. I was thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail about everything. First it began with the prep work…we put our own drop cloth over our bed to protect it from dirt and dust. But they took it to another level, came in and put plastic over all of our furniture even though our bathroom is in a separate room. They put a drop cloth to walk on through our house. They asked us to remove our belongings from the closet since they are in the bathroom. We had no problem with that especially when we saw how much dust made it under the closet door and into the closet. But after everything was done, they sent a cleaning company to thoroughly clean our closets, the bathroom and our bedroom. Solid Stone Manufacturing was originally hired to just fabricate and install new countertops, sinks and faucets in our master bathroom and upstairs bathroom. But it became a whole bathroom remodel. And Solid Stone Manufacturing orchestrated and managed a beautiful project that included granite cutting and installing, plumbers, carpenters, tile installers, painters, electricians, tile retailers, bathroom design stores for fixtures and tubs and cleaning of course. Roberto and the entire crew are professional, timely, and dependable and they all take great pride in their craft. I can’t say enough great things about the entire experience. People say when it comes to investing, you want to hire a teacher. Well your home is an investment and your master bathroom is your best seller so you want to hire a teacher to remodel the room that you wake up to and the room that you end your day in. Solid Stone Manufacturing is a great teacher. Not only did we make a great investment by using Solid Stone Manufacturing but now we have a bathroom that feels like a spa and looks like a bathroom in a magazine…as our son has said several times. Roberto met us at several tile and granite places to help us pick out the look for our bathroom. He is very helpful and knowledgeable about design as well. And what I love is that he will give you his honest opinion and explain why he believes that way but then he will leave it to the customer to make the final decision. Because of his knowledge, design skills and management abilities…we have a bathroom we love and that excites us every time we walk in."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

Continuous feed garbage disposals are the favorite model for many homeowners for a reason. As opposed to batch feed models, add food scraps to the drain whenever the disposal is running. This variety is also typically less expensive, more convenient, and easier to clean.

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

If you cook a lot or have a larger household, a garbage disposal can be worth it, since it streamlines your kitchen duties and helps to keep food waste out of landfills. It helps to know the cost of garbage disposal installation before you make your decision. The average price is about $400, but you can expect to pay more for higher-end models or if you hire a pro to do the job for you.

Your garbage disposal will only affect the health of your septic tank if you’re using it too frequently, or filling it with organic waste that doesn’t fully break down. If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field. Your tank will need to be pumped more frequently with excessive or improper garbage disposal use.

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.
