"â I would highly recommend 3 Brothers! Shon was our technician who called 30 minutes ahead to let me know he was on his way. My original appointment was for an inspection of our new to us but older homeâ s fireplace/chimney. Our chimney required a few repairs due to weather related wear and tear. Shon was able to do the inspection and all the repairs in one appointment. He provided pictures from the inspection explaining every repair that would need to be done and provided pictures before and after repairs were done. Shon was so pleasant to work with. Iâ m so happy with all aspects of our service and will continue to use 3 Brothers for future annual inspections and cleanings"

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Yes, mineral spirits are flammable and may spontaneously combust at temperatures of 200 degrees F or more. Storing them in well-ventilated spaces and disposing of them the proper way are the best ways to prevent mineral spirits or anything contaminated with them, like towels and rags, from going up in smoke.

Luckily, you can typically eliminate your microwave’s burnt smell within a few hours for most situations. Be sure to let it air out for two to three hours after cleaning to let the odor evacuate your home—if you close your home up too early, the odor will be trapped. For stronger, more stubborn burnt smells, it might take a full day or more to really notice a difference.

If untreated, smoke damage is definitely toxic. Carbon and tar are two types of toxic chemicals in smoke that can damage your lungs and other parts of your body if you breathe them in for long periods of time. If you still smell smoke after the fire, it’s important that you call your restoration team for support.

It depends. For new ovens, it’s best to run a few empty cycles to prepare the oven for use and to keep any manufacturing byproducts from entering your food. But if your oven is smoking due to a few burnt pieces of old food, then it probably won’t hurt to eat it. If there’s a lot of smoke, then your food probably won’t taste good, even if it might not be harmful to consume.

Costs depend on the extent of damage, material restoration, labor, and emergency service requirements.
