"I recently had the pleasure of working with Young and Son for an air conditioning repair project, and I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received. I was referred to the owner, who now operates out of Texas. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that professionalism was a top priority. He communicated effectively throughout the entire process, ensuring that I understood what needed to be done and the costs involved. The pricing was very reasonable, especially given the high quality of Overall, I highly recommend Young and Son for any HVAC needs. So happy to have found you!!!!"

"We scheduled a 4 pm appointment. By 4:45, no one showed up or called to confirm their whereabouts. I had to call Metro Air and ask what was going on. The secretary said she will dispatch a technician to my house. The technician did not arrive until 5:30. He was kind and was able to fix the capacitor, which was causing the issue. About a week later, their office followed up. I told the lady that the a/c was on, but now there was another sound coming from the system. The secretary indicated that the technician would call me that day to discuss and set up a follow up visit to address the issue. No one ever called."

"Another home run! I recently purchased a home with two HVAC systems and needed a new company to do my service as I moved outside my previous provider's service area. Chase and his guys came out within a couple days of my call and went through both systems top to bottom. Made suggestions for a couple minor repairs (same issues pointed out by my inspector prior to purchasing the house). I had him perform all the work and not once did he try and up-sell me on anything. Liked them so much I purchased a semi-annual service contract. Honorable guys that do good work for a fair price. Highly recommend them!"

Arrived 10 mins early and presented himself very professionally also his van looked very nice. Upon diagnosing the problem he explained all my options and gave me his recommendation as to what my next step should be. I decided to replace bad part and get the air conditioner tuned up. Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

No, you should not attempt to replace an AC evaporator coil yourself. This is a complex task that must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. The process involves handling hazardous and flammable refrigerants, which poses significant safety risks. Attempting a DIY replacement can also cause further damage to your HVAC system and will likely void its warranty. It is necessary to hire a local AC repair professional for this job.

It depends on the type of AC unit and the extent of the mold growth. For example, if you have a small amount of mold in your central air conditioner, it’s worth cleaning it to protect your HVAC system and your health. In situations like these, you can often remove the mold yourself in a couple of hours. On the other hand, if you have a portable AC unit with a severe mold problem, it makes more sense to buy a new one. On average, replacing a portable AC unit costs $100 to $500.

Yes, HVAC zoning is generally considered worth the investment by both experts and homeowners. Zoned systems offer significant benefits in convenience, efficiency, and comfort by allowing you to set different temperatures for various rooms or 'zones' in your house. This ability to heat and cool only the spaces you're using leads to energy savings and lower utility bills. Zoned systems are especially effective in multi-level homes that experience temperature fluctuations, but even smaller homes can benefit from the ability to adjust temperatures more quickly. While the up-front installation cost can be high, many find it's a worthwhile long-term investment, particularly for those who plan to stay in their home for a while.

One of the first signs of mold in an air conditioner is a musty smell. You're likely to notice the smell when the unit runs, from the air coming out of the vents or the unit itself. You may also be able to see mold growing on the unit, such as near the condenser coils or by the fan. In some cases, there may be visible mold by the vents.

The DOE is phasing out AC units with SEER ratings that fall below 14 or 15. The exact minimum rating depends on your region. In the northern United States, new ACs must have a minimum SEER rating of 14, though you can still buy and install older systems as long as they were compliant when they were manufactured. In the southern and southwestern United States, you cannot buy or install older air conditioners with lower SEER ratings. The minimum rating is between 14.5 and 15, depending on the power of the unit.
