"Marvin is a well equipped professional who knows what he's doing. He removed the 10' driveway gate, dug up and replaced the swing post with a larger post and more concrete, then rehung the gate. He then cut into a fence section at the back of the property, installed a new fence post, fabricated a gate from the material he had removed from the fence, and then hung the gate. All work was spray painted with primer and then matching black paint. The worksite was left clean. He works with a practiced efficiency that makes everything look easy. Marvin is an excellent contractor who responds promptly, shows up when he says, and conducts himself in a professional manner. I would hire him anytime."

"They did a fabulous job. I had an overgrown landscape and weeds. The first day they cleared the fence line, weeded the flowerbeds and removed dead/sick foliage and pruned some trees. The second day they spread mulch and also mowed/edged, I didn't know my yard was so big. Mr Lopez stayed with his quote. The value was there. Mr Lopez was polite, dependable and I would definitely hire his team again."

"In a word: FANTASTIC. I have too many good things to say about Keystone to include here. In the interest of brevity, I can tell you that Kirk Heyman, the owner of Keystone, has a serious eye for detail and takes great pride in his work product and his customer's satisfaction. Kirk and Keystone are highly diligent, caring, reliable, trustworthy, and honest. Above all, I think the best word to describe the quality of Keystone's work product is "craftsmanship." I found Keystone by accident after my wife and I were basically robbed by a different contractor and we are so thankful that we found Kirk and Keystone. If you are looking for an honest bid, with better than excellent craftsmanship results, then I highly recommend Keystone. Please feel free to contact me personally if you would ever like to inspect or view Keystone's extensive remodeling work at my home."

"The company was very prompt in getting back to me each time. I submitted photo's of the fence in advance along with a quick CAD overview of the fence dimensions to get an updated quote as my fence dimensions exceeded the value covered by the Big Deal I purchased. The company ended up pushing back one day from the originally scheduled appointment, but let me know well in advance, and the worker showed up exactly on time, was courteous, and answered all my questions.
I replaced two gates, some rails and individual pickets in advance and the company indicated these would likely not take the stain as much as the old wood. However, the tech tried hard to match as much as possibly by going over the new pieces several times.  I chose the redwood semi-transparent stain which was similar in color to my original stain.
Overall, I was very pleased with the outcome. The color is deep and rich, and while you can see some color variation against the new wood, it blends in reasonably well, and the overall look of the fence is a 100% improvement.
Only minor nitpick is that some stain puddled onto my driveway; the worker had placed plastic coating down to protect the driveway but I guess a little went over the side.
Nonetheless, very pleased with the overall results - the fence looks great.

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

While many gate hinges are often made of extremely durable materials, such as galvanized steel, they can wear out after many years. How quickly they wear out also depends on how much use they’ve endured. It’s also possible for the hinge screws to fall out, which weakens the hinge. Once a hinge wears out, it’s time for a replacement so your gate doesn’t start sagging.

While spring gates close gently but firmly, they’re not a foolproof solution for securing your yard to prevent pets or kids from escaping or unwanted guests from entering. Installing a gate latch that is sturdy and lockable with a self-closing mechanism is more effective, especially when used alongside other methods for keeping your home safe, such as cameras or motion detectors.

Double gates come with the same gaps as single gates, with hinges taking up a quarter of an inch of space. The difference is that double fence gates also have a center gap, which needs a little more clearance. Space the center gap at half an inch instead of the usual three-eighths of an inch for a single gate.

Yes, most electric and automatic gates can be opened manually. They are equipped with a manual override or release mechanism that detaches the motor from the gate, allowing it to be moved by hand. This feature is essential during power outages or other emergencies.

To activate the manual override, you will typically need a specific key or tool. In some cases, you may also need a screwdriver to remove a cover to access the release mechanism. The use of a key is a common security measure to prevent unauthorized individuals from manually opening the gate.

Because every model is different, it is highly recommended to consult your gate's user manual to familiarize yourself with the specific procedure before you need to use it. Keep any necessary keys or tools in an accessible location. Be aware that automatic gates can be very heavy, so opening and closing them manually may be difficult.

In North America, electric gates are also subject to the UL 325 Standard for Safety, which includes provisions to allow emergency responders to access the property.

Instead of a security door, you might opt for a heavy-duty screen door made from durable mesh, which allows better sunlight and airflow. Additionally, you could enhance security by installing strong locks on your existing door. A double-cylinder deadbolt provides robust security; however, be aware that some local laws prohibit them due to safety concerns during emergencies.
