"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"They were on time and did an excellent job. They did a good job of cleaning up when they finished. They didn't use as much material as was quoted, so they didn't charge as much as was quoted. They seemed to be very reliable and honest. No other company I know of would refund money. EXCELLENT JOB OVER ALL."

"05/31/2013 Estimate:
DTP took the time to go over options for possible problem areas. (EX. A faucet on the front of our home is about 2 inches lower than front door. DTP took the time to explain the different ways that they could fix the problem.) DTP was very professional and he made sure all our questions and concerns were handled before he left. I will continue to update information as services are preformed.

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

The time it takes to install new cabinets depends on the scope of the project. For a kitchen installation, you can expect the process to take anywhere from 2-5 days for a standard layout up to a couple of weeks for more complex projects, depending on the number of cabinets and the installation space. For a smaller project, such as installing cabinets in a bathroom, you can expect the work to take a week or less. Your cabinet installation expert will be able to provide you with a realistic timeframe.

It is generally more cost-effective to purchase stock or semi-custom cabinets than to have them custom-built. The best option depends on your budget and customization needs.

Here is a breakdown of the average costs per linear foot:

  • Custom Cabinets: $500 to $1,200. The final price is influenced by factors like materials, size, and design complexity. For example, a basic slab cabinet door might cost $60 to $70 for materials, while a more intricate mullioned glass inset panel door can range from $100 to $200 per door.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: $150 to $700.

  • Stock Cabinets: $100 to $400. These are pre-built and the most affordable option, but they offer limited customization and may not be suitable for rooms with unusual shapes or high ceilings.

You can stack upper kitchen cabinets, but they may not fit neatly. Because upper kitchen cabinets are typically available in these standard sizes—12, 15, 18, 24, 30, 36, and 42 inches—you can stack various-sized upper cabinets. But, depending on your ceiling height, these standard sizes may not work together. That’s why smaller stacked cabinets are a much more stylish and economical choice.

Yes, there are some options for pre-built inset cabinets—and RTA ones, too—but the selection can be somewhat limited. Many homeowners who decide on inset cabinets choose to have them custom made.

It’s much less expensive to build your own garage shelves, and you’ll still get stable, long-lasting, and sharp-looking shelves. Garage storage systems cost between $615 and $2,635, with the national average of about $1,455. Building DIY garage shelves typically costs less than $500, and the quality of a DIY garage shelving unit will almost always be higher than what you could buy premade for the equivalent price.
