"The job was supposed to begin on Wed. They said they would come on Thurs and no-showed and then called 30 mins ahead of time on Fri to show up on Friday installing driveway and they did horrible job. They left tar and rocks in my yard and debris. They busted one of my pipes and did not fix it. They did not do the full coverage of the area they were supposed to. I tried to arrange him to come back out and he has no-showed several times. Now he is not responding back at all. UPDATE**** They did come out and fix the issue for the most part. I wont know until it rains to see if it will hold up or not. He did do some of what he said he would do on the driveway. It is sad that it took 7 months for him to come out and fix the problem. He did say if it washed out again to give him a call. UPDATE**** They did come back out and gave us a warranty on the job if there was any other issues"

"Our driveway and parking situation at our office was getting to be in bad condition, so I was looking around to find someone trustworthy and that was tedious on there work, after lots of time looking around I found JB paving & construction and I can say that I am very satisfied with the work they had put in. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for the services they provide. They put pride in there work and they make sure to get the job done correctly while being time sufficient."

Small jobs welcome

"Ponce, Workhorse's owner, visited the jobsite prior to his crew arriving to review jobsite conditions and ensure his team was prepared. Their work was excellent and prices fair. Workhorse ventures made us feel like a client and we will certainly use them again. I highly recommend these folks for your project too."

"This is an engineered wall which is intended to preserve the clay pad upon which our home was constructed.  The home is on a downhill slope.  The contractor respected all manufacturer recommendations regarding installation.
The crew seemed seasoned, both in terms of the type of work, and also as a working team.  The management partners are hands on participants and spent every day on site.
The project included not only hardscaping, but also plumbing and electrical aspects.  The crew seemed comfortable performing the required tasks.
We found the guys to be pleasant to have around.  Given that the blocks weigh about 50 lbs each, the temperature was as high as 105, and the work surface challenging, the cheerful smiles were actually something of a miracle.
We had agreed generally on the wall design, but left many design decisions up to them.  We are very pleased with the aesthetics of the final product.  Their instincts are good.
Our greatest frustration was probably with regard to communication and scheduling, BUT this job was booked during the most rainy Spring on record, and the installation took place over a 2.5 week period when temps were above 100 every day.  That at
least partially explains the delayed start and the longer than expected execution.  At those temperatures, a break is required after about every 20 minutes of labor.
The above concerns are offset by the fact that because management is on-site, feedback is immediate and there are no communication problems during the project execution."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

After paving in Cypress, avoid parking heavy vehicles on new surfaces for at least 48 hours, especially during hot spells. Inspect drainage performance during the first significant rain and check for any edge separation. Schedule sealcoating within the first year, address any early cracks before hurricane season, and keep a maintenance log. Regularly monitor for settling or root-related damage to extend your pavement’s life.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Cypress should review HOA guidelines, obtain necessary permits, and ensure compliance with drainage and floodplain regulations. The region’s clay soil requires a reinforced sub-base to prevent shifting, and a high water table may call for enhanced drainage design. Schedule paving outside of hurricane season, and always check for underground utilities and tree preservation rules specific to your neighborhood.

Helpful?

Asphalt paving in Cypress requires proactive care due to local weather. Sealcoating every two to three years helps protect against UV exposure and humidity, while crack filling after storms prevents water from seeping beneath the surface. Clearing debris from drainage channels before hurricane season and inspecting for root intrusion from native trees are especially important for maintaining both asphalt driveways and parking areas.

Helpful?

In Cypress, widespread alligator cracking, persistent standing water after storms, or multiple potholes following freeze-thaw cycles signal that asphalt resurfacing or replacement may be needed. Noticeable rutting from summer heat, crumbling edges after heavy rain, or faded, brittle surfaces are also warning signs. If over a third of your asphalt driveway or parking lot shows these issues, a full redo is often best.

Helpful?

In Cypress, the humid subtropical climate means asphalt paving projects must account for intense summer heat, sudden downpours, and hurricane threats. High temperatures can soften new asphalt driveways, making them more prone to rutting, while heavy rainfall can delay curing and increase the risk of water infiltration. Planning projects during drier, cooler months and installing effective drainage systems are essential for long-lasting results.
